The book really deserves 3.5 stars. It’s cute, it has a good plot and some interesting characters, but it always bothers me to read about a protagonist who keeps making the wrong choice. Cat is too bland, too non-confrontational, and his choice of not speaking up when disaster strikes doesn’t make sense.
The obvious comparison to this book is HP, and while that series had a certain gripping magic from book one, I just couldn’t get worked up enough to care much about any of these characters.

I love Diana Wynne Jones' wrting style. Her books are quirky, imaginative and fun. This was just as good as Howl'S Moving Castle. I can't wait to read the rest of the series.

Considering it’s an abridged version, it hits all the main point in the plot. I had fun revisiting the world.
