i really liked how one page would analyse and tell you about the poem and it’s meaning before giving you the actual poem itself. i think more poetry books should offer this to make it more accessible and fun to read.
i just don’t think i was smart enough to understand these...
classical literature doesn’t really bother me - too many names and places to remember - but i was quite intrigued by sappho! i thought there would be more to her poetry, but not a lot of it survived so it’s quite fragmented and small. oh well, glad to have read some of her work now! plus it’s a really small book (just under 100 pages) - don’t think i would have stuck at it if it was much longer.
