I'm always impressed when someone manages to tell a story without dialogue. Plus it's pretty cute. And has dogs and robots and other assorted cute creatures. Kind of hard to go wrong.

A dog builds himself a robot friend, but after the robot gets rusty during a day at the beach, the dog has to leave him behind...
Younger kids will probably like the cute animals and robots and the silly moments, but I think this would be best appreciated by those who've loved and lost people in friendships or romantic relationships. Despite being wordless, this book says a lot, and it has a lot of emotional depth without being saccharine.
A good choice for readers of any age who are growing apart from their friends or going through a breakup, or for anyone who wants to see a well-done example of a story told entirely through art.

Saw the film at the TIFF this year, and thought I would return to the book after 10 years. Meant more to me now, nostalgic!

This is such a cute little graphic novel. It's both heartwarming and heart-wrenching and demonstrates that a picture really is worth a thousand words. The artist is clearly talented and is able to evoke so much emotion without a single piece of text. This is marked as a middle grade book, but it has so much heart in it that it's equally enjoyable as an adult reading it. It's a story of friendship and change that's equally both sad and hopeful.

Cute, simple, and ended differently than I expected.

Charming. The illustrations are a bit basic but the story is very emotionally engaging. It didn't end how I was expecting though.

Love the take on a graphic novel of only illustrations and no speech.
