Theo Silva, the man you are. Once again, this series is great and this book is no exception. I would have liked a bit more of a resolution of their feelings, especially on Winter’s part, but overall a great book that’s cute and fun

Reckless is the fourth book in the Chestnut Springs series and follows Winter Hamilton and Theo Silva after a one-night stand leads to an unexpected pregnancy.

I already liked both characters from the previous books and thought they’d make an interesting match. Their personalities are polar opposites, which works well—Theo helps Winter come out of her shell, and she starts to embrace her family and friends, learning that it’s okay to accept help.

There was significant character growth for both Winter and Theo, which I really appreciated. While there was another third-act conflict, as is typical with Elsie Silver's books, the internal aspect of it was resolved quickly and maturely. The major conflict was external and tied to a storyline that had been left unresolved since the first book, so I was glad to see it come to a conclusion.
Overall, this book was a fantastic read and one of my favorites in the series.

Winters insecurities call out to me personally. I love that she wasn’t a go get them type of girl and that she really had weak moments.

More later 🫶🏼

I think this has just become my favourite in the Chestnut Springs series. It turns out the accidental pregnancy trope totally works for me. This was adorable and in my opinion, the best written of the series thus far. I adored getting to see Winter grow and her self hate thaw by allowing herself to be loved by Theo, Summer and the rest of the Chestnut Springs crowd. It made me so happy to get to see these characters interact again after missing them in Powerless. This was a surprisingly emotional, yet incredibly sweet and fun read and I hope I get to see more of Vivi, Winter and Theo in the next book.

4 🌟’s because I LOVED Theo in this and was giggling kicking my feet every time he spoke. I enjoyed Winter’s character but it felt super disconnected to the way she was introduced in Flawless. I think jumping from the first night with Theo to her living in Chestnut Springs & already having the baby be 9mnths missed sooooooo much development for her character and honestly centred her healing around a man which I kinda hate (even if it was swoony as hell). I also wish Theo’s grief about his father and Winter’s grief about her miscarriage was included; those felt like foundational parts of their family-building narrative that really weren’t present at all, but I get that that’s maybe not the type of book Elsie Silver writes. I won’t lie and say I didn’t eat this book up completely, but retrospectively with 400 pages it honestly felt like it could’ve gone a lot deeper and I kinda can’t comprehend how I sat through 400 pages of Winter basically repeatedly deciding she wasn’t good enough for Theo while he was dad-ing it up and doing nothing but showing commitment to her. Still super swoony and super hot, just definitely kinda surface-level and missed a pretty good opportunity to explore more complex emotions.
