Honestly, although I didn't like this book as much as the first one, I say it's most definitely a good sequel to the first book, but I still liked it. However, I feel like the build-up (not the ending itself, but the build-up) toward the end was a bit out of left field. I just wish there were clues to how things went toward the end and the plot twist.
Spoiler I felt like the whole Brunswick killer thing came out of nowhere. If Pip had referred to it in passing or looked at it before when examining cases of missing people earlier in the book then yeah it would've made a bit of sense, but nope. I liked how the author handled it, but I just wished she would've introduced it better. However, it still doesn't negate the impact of Stanley's death. My gosh! Poor Pip! If I didn't think she was traumatized in book 1, well, she is most definitely traumatized after this. She literally watched a man get shot six times right in front of her eyes with his blood all over her and watched him die. All at the ripe age of 18. Like what the heck?! I really hope she's seeing a therapist in book 3 (i'm typing this review a few days after I finished book 3 and sadly even therapy couldn't help my girl, PipšŸ˜šŸ˜–).

mysterious and interesting. after AGGTM, this book takes some of the consequences of the last and manages to be a consistent and coherent follow-up.Ā

pip isnā€™t my favorite character
Spoiler - she can be a little insensitive to some of her co-characters (especially Nat!) and has inexplicably become an expert at police investigative procedures without development of those skills. i would have loved a chapter or two of her enjoying casual researching on investigations, just so her almost over-professional knowledge is explained better. that also would have made a fantastic contrast with the end, where she experiences this from a different side, as a direct witness. either way, pipā€™s mental health and the way it is discussed were very strong points in this book.

i enjoyed how the different characters were introduced and how a new mystery was developed without entirely neglecting the first. that was impressive and really immersive.Ā

OK. How do I even start? Another wild ride as usual. And just like the previous book, it did not take long at all before I was absolutely hooked. definitely a point there. Was not expecting that sad and intense ending, and I am equal parts intrigued and very, very nervous for what the next book has in store for me. The plot was very well planned and thought out as always (thank you Holly Jackson), and the Brunswick part of the story kinda took me off guard, but in a great way, and I love how it tied into the whole story! I did think that Jamie Reynolds' motivations and purpose in the whole thing was a bit ridiculous, but the again, I don't know what goes on thru the minds of 24 year old having an existential crisis, therefore I have no right to judge. I'm just glad he was actually alive and well this time, unlike our first victims.Ā

That's all for now, I had absolute blast as always, and I'm very excited for the finale!!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS BOOK. I would definitely recommend this. Pip deserves the world. Max Hasting pissed me off. Ravi is just ā¤ļø. Cara slayed. Jamie was kinda meh. I felt that he was a bit naive and he really really needs to get his life straightened out. I disliked him a lot and I feel so bad for his parents. Nat was portrayed wonderfully

Another five star for Holly Jackson is well deserved, I know that this is the only outlier within the whole series as this book is the one ā€œleast liked within the series.ā€ Maybe it had something to do with the underdog take the book had, but if anything I enjoyed this book more than the first. The main character Pip is more unhinged and more motivated than ever <seing as the case of the missing boy- Jamie Reynolds, hits close to home seeing as one of her best friends is brother to Jamie. I loved the friendships she forms especially in this book since it shows her connection to Nat Da Silva is one unmatched, Pip was able to support her in a way that only they understood. Although, there was similar parts in A Good Girls Guide To Murder I just personally enjoyed this one better seeing as- at least for me, if had more emotional depth seeing as we (the readers) were with Pip through everything that happened to her in the barn, and it was way more tense then in A Good Girlā€™s Guide To Murder.
