3.5 stars. A lovely easy read for when you need a pick me up or a holiday read. I found this book not a complete cuddle book as she ended up having a bit of a rough time. However I still enjoyed it and dreams do come true if you believe in yourself.

Breezy, light read. Entertaining but predictable in the way that stories about ordinary lives are. What stands out the most is how incredibly true-to-life the relatives and complicated family equations are. The one who makes stupid comments all the time, the one who thinks he knows everything, the one who just doesn't get you - we all have at least one of these in our lives. Character development is great but most of the dialogues are very stilted, particularly between Sophie and her parents. With just the right amount of drama and good writing, this is a one-sitting book.

Love, love, loved this book! Lovely setting, charming storyline, a protagonist to root for, and a modern happily ever after. Just an all round feel good story.

The story revolves around Della, a reliable working mum, who just lost her mother after being her carer during a terminal illness. Della is that woman. The one who puts herself last. She takes care of her husband, her daughter, her home, her mother and pretty much everything else that needs doing. She goes above and beyond at her little dead end job. She is caught up in the image of herself from childhood, as not quite enough, so she tries hard and excels at the things she does. In quick succession, her mother dies, her daughter moves out to go to university and her husband, well…let’s just say his timing showed the “content of his character”. The 962 cookbooks that Della inherits from her mother spur a change that has been a long time coming. The end result is the Della that was supposed to be, a new understanding of family, and homey bookshop on Rosemary Lane.

Highly recommended especially for fans of Katie Fforde! I will definitely be keeping an eye out for new books by Ellen Berry.

I received a digital copy of The Bookshop on Rosemary Lane from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed reading this story at the start of our vacation. The characters are like able (with the exception of the annoying husband). Della & her friends & family (daughter & sister) were endearing . Enjoyable, quick read. I look forward to reading the next two in the series over the next few years!

Thank you to NetGalley, Harper Collins & Ellen Berry.

This book was great, but slightly heavy. It's almost like a middle age coming of age book, if that makes any sense. I thought it would be a lighthearted read but it covered some fairly heavy topics! It was interesting from start to finish and it ended really well, which makes up quite a bit for the heavy, slightly uninteresting middle. 😉
All in all I liked it and I will certainly recommend it to others.

4.5 Stars for this light hearted story of starting over while honoring past connections. It was just what I needed!

The characters were realistic and the protagonist was likable enough. It's very British and the plot was predictable and heavily foreshadowed. Although nothing really stood out as being exceptional, it was an enjoyable read about a woman trying to grow and improve her life.
