Got this book for free and was looking for something light to read. The story takes place in two different times, 20 years apart, with 2 different women as the protagonist in each period. There is murder, bad bosses, disappearing people, bank fraud and even the mob. I gave it 3 stars because it fit the bill for what I was looking for at the time.

Great book
Well written and easy to read. I just wish the ending was longer. I would recommend this book to other people.

This was a Kindle First book that I had downloaded last year and it didn't seem interesting at the time. I've been trying to read books that have been sitting on my Kindle, and I'm kicking myself for not sticking with this one more. Such a well-written mystery...and for those who don't like mysteries, just try this one. It takes some time to get used to the writing and understand what's going on. But this thriller has you on the edge of your set on what happens, or what did happen, 20 years ago.

This book kept my interest throughout, and kept me piecing stuff together as it went. I loved how it went back and forth between past and present. It was nice to see how those two combined and affected the storyline. I enjoyed the ending as well, since it didn't spell out everything that happened but just enough to let you imaging how exactly everything wrapped up with a little help.

Would have to agree with a few other readers that if I was rating the "past" story-line it would have been a much higher score, but the "present" story-line wasn't very captivating. In fact, I found the main character kind of weak and annoying, I prefer a powerhouse woman and instead got a slightly neurotic irresponsible mess.

Interesting premise, I was invested enough in the story to keep going until the end but parts were doled out too slowly and the ultimate payoff was disappointing. Some of my displeasure was a personal prejudice, I found Iris irritating and her slacker attitude was off putting. Most businesses when you constantly show up late that early in the job will just fire you. The plot of what was happening at the bank was doled out a little too slowly and I felt like the smart kid waiting for the rest of the class to catch up. The ending was just not satisfying at all, if you like real resolution where the bad guys get what is coming to them and you know for sure what the heck happened to the good guy instead of a vague suggestion of if they "made it out alive" or not just walk away from this book now. I found both the vague nature of the ending and the direction it took to be a let down.

This book is amazing. I'm not usually one for mysteries, but this book was truly riveting. I read it in less than 24 hours and that's no mean feat for someone who works more than full time.
This novel keeps you guessing right til the end. You'll wonder if the protagonist gets out of it alive. If you like tension, you'll like this book, even if mysteries aren't your thing.
I would definitely read this again in a couple of years after I've forgotten all the details.

The idea for the story was great. There were a lot of twist and turn, nothing that really surprised you though. The story itself drags a little bit in the middle. But by the end it picks up and I was glad I finished it.

More like 3.5 stars.
It was good but not anything spectacular. I didn't find the mystery all that believable but it was still a fast fun ride.

Page-turning mystery, clever structure with two heroines on the same scene twenty years apart.
