I'm going to be totally honest... I have a LOT more issues with this volume than I'd like to admit (issues I also had with this part of the anime).

firstly, I've got to preface by saying that, structurally, this volume isn't terrible by any means. in fact, I think it's one of the stronger ones. I think it's well-paced, the action is easier to follow than previous volumes, and I love the character work here. daki and gyutaro have always been such fascinating characters to me, so getting to see more of them in this volume was great. and, of course, the little inosuke story at the end was really cute, even though I wish some of that character work was done during the story and not being treated as bonus content.

that being said, the way nezuko (a literal child) is sexualised at this point in the story makes me sick. I suppose the same could be said about daki, since
she was turned into a demon when she was only 13 and has the mentality of a 13-year-old girl
, but
given the fact that she might be altering her appearance and that she has been sexualised and tokenised due to her beauty, especially considering her line of work in the brothels
, it doesn't make as uncomfortable as what's done with nezuko per se. also, unfortunately nezuko feels more like a plot device rather than a fully fleshed-out character, which is so strange to me considering some of the character work that was done in this volume specifically. a lot of potential was set up only for her to end up being essentially a mary sue whose sole purpose is to move the plot forward. I don't hate nezuko by any means - I just wish she was better written :(

The fight scenes are iconic. Also that little backstory of Inosuke is too cute.

The iconic line of all time

“A life that's lost can never return. It's gone forever. A demon's body isn't made of human flesh. Why do you steal peoples’ lives? Why do you ruin them? What is it that makes life interesting? What do you think life is? Don't you see? How could you forget? Even you were once human weren't you? Surely you struggled against pain and suffering. You must have shed tears.” –Tanjiro Kamado

So much excitement! Love that Tanjiro keeps going, only well.. his will his bigger than his body. I loved Nezuko and her transformation, oh no, RIP that demon, I actually felt a bit sorry for them. And then even more fighting, more excitement, this volume was just one rollercoaster and I cannot wait to read the next one to see how everything will end! EEP!
