This was a lot. It felt like three completely different stories and tones merged into one mediocre (or dare I say bad) whole. It was a chore to get through, the twists, while being crazy and unhinged, managed to bore me and all the characters, but especially the Daniel and Laura, are insufferable. The last twist was kinda cool, I'll give it that. I'd still read Mark Edwards' other books since there is definitely potential, but this one was a huge miss for me.

It was entertaining, never got bored. Needs to be edited a little more closely. The ending was stupid but I guess I understand what the author was going for.

I rarely stop a book before the end but I gave this one up after 30%. It claims to be a psychological thriller but it's actually horror, a genre I find ridiculous. To make matters worse the writing is simple and uninteresting.

At the onset of the novel I was hooked. I wanted to know what had happened in the woods that night after being kicked off the train. However, it isn't revealed until around halfway through the book, at which point it felt difficult to continue reading. I wasn't interested enough in the lesser developed characters which seemed to dominate the second half of the book

moral of the story:

Never, EVER fall asleep on the train! (and if you really have to? sleep in a locked compartment)

I really enjoy reading a book told from different perspectives, as well as a first person narration (especially in suspense stories). "Follow you Home" has both. You have a very strong beginning and then slowly (until the last page) you get the story bit by bit. Laura and Daniel had a traumatic experience during their trip across Europe that neither wants ever to discuss again. The author cleverly weaved a horror story; although I must confess that my imagination was even darker than Edwards's. As the story progresses, we follow the young couple as they truly find their way "Home"..

I did enjoy this book and found Daniel a likeable enough character.Laura I found a bit irritating, at least Daniel was trying to get help whereas she just moped about over it.
Spoiler although the reason for this becomes apparent at the end
I also enjoyed the suspense element that something dreadful had happened in Romania and the thrill of them being followed/watched. But, I kind of felt a bit let down by the big reveal, I didn't see why this wasn't something they could have informed the police about.

Overall it was an enjoyable read and I read it in just a couple of days which is a record for me lately.

THE GOOD: Short chapters are perfect for someone with slight ADD like myself. The story is about how people react and cope with traumatic experiences and has a deep sense of mystery to it. We don't find out exactly what happened until the very end. Coincidences? Or all part of an elaborate plot? Pace gets faster as the book nears the end. A real page turner for me which is quite rare.

THE BAD:
SpoilerDrugs planted in their backpack and passports stolen. You telling me that they didn't find the drugs while turning their backpacks upside-down looking for their stolen passport? Hard to believe. But obviously this is just a minor loophole in an otherwise complex and coherent plot against the protagonists. The twists & turns really threw me off.

THE UGLY: Scenes of rape do occur. Not for the squimish or those sensitive to this subject.
