A really lovely written book about female friendships lived within and responding to the challenges of being a woman in society. The dystopian nature of our modern society is always more shocking written down and portrayed in these day to day lived moments - when you’re not surprised at the atrocities or inequalities you’re reading. Very important book, and from what I hear, a very (unfortunately) accurate portrayal of life as a woman in Korea (and most everywhere).

Urodzona w 1982" i chciałby przeczytać coś w podobnym temacie/klimacie - "Gdybym miała twoją twarz" będzie świetnym wyborem.

If I had your face describes the story of four different, but somehow connected women living in contemporary Seoul. Common theme is that they all seem to have the idea that they would live life better if they had the others face. All women struggle in their own way in a society driven by beauty standards and cosmetic surgery, and most importantly: money.
I loved reading from every perspective and getting to know their imperfect characters, making them so much more real. I could feel their joy if they had any, but all the more their sorrows and hardship.
This book makes you reflect on what is important in life, but mostly on how unfair life can be and how set systems barely make it possible to change that.
