I have watched the movie a long time ago so I hardly remember the details of the story. I'm glad I read the book. I really like how Nicholas Sparks writes. Unlike other people, I really do not mind -- in fact I adore it even -- when he writes the way he does. It's sweet, gentle, and really touches to the core.

The plot is typical. A rich girl meets a poor guy, two people seemingly unlikely to fall in love but in the end they do. At some point, the parents of the one better off think that their heir deserves someone better, i.e. deserves someone in the same socio-economic status. It was all predictable that they would still make it in the end. But even if their undying love were expected, it still was nice to read and further finish the book to confirm that they do end up with each other.

The characters are defined not only by their dialogues, but also the narrations of their past. There were series of anecdotes, not too long, not too short that would make the reader feel closer and understanding to the character. Being able to do this in a relatively short novel is a feat. The relationships between the characters was all the more entertaining. I certainly felt the connection between them and somehow I found them to connect to me as well.

I guess one would be able to connect to this story if he or she likes romance novels.

It was an enjoyable read. I teared up in all the sweet parts, haha!

I needed something short, sweet and easy, and that is exactly what this book gave me.

"The Notebook" was so much better than the movie. Favorite Character: Noah
I watched "The Notebook" with my mother when I was younger and didn't understand why people liked to watch movies / read books that were "romantic" in any way, shape, or form.... But now I understand that a truly beautiful love story can make you think in a different way. I loved the scene when Allie unexpectedly goes to Noah's house and they end up having dinner together. I also think that the ending is beautiful (Allie remembering Noah; them dying together in the nursing home). Nicholas Sparks has a certain elegance to his writing that portrays events in a way that is both beautiful and heartbreaking. You can only get the full experience while reading this book once.

Ok so I absolutely love this story. The never ending love just really pulls at my heart strings and makes me want to find the perfect guy. But I felt like the book gave to much detail making it inappropriate for me to read.

From the first page it sucked you in. It was very fast paced. I finished in a day. I loved the way Nicholas described feelings. How he described every aspect of someone’s heart on paper. Allie and Noah had a love that was powerful and you only experience it once in a lifetime. The second chapter where they meet for the first time after 14 years of separation was beautiful yet heartbreaking. To see Noah holding up strong about the engagement but deep down he’s an emotionally rect. True love never dies. How could you possible love someone that much? Noah and Allie years later and Allie has a memory disease, I wasn’t expecting that. It hurt my heart but the little episodes where she’d remember him gave me hope. Overall the book is the best romance I’ve read so far. Nicholas Sparks has the key to my heart.❤️
Some of my favorite quotes:

“You are the answer to every prayer I’ve offered. You are a song, a dream, a whisper and I don’t know how I could have lived without you for as long as I have”

“The first time you fall in love it changes you forever and no matter how hard you try, the feelings just nerve goes away”

“But he had been in love once, that he knew. Once and only once, and a long time ago. And it changed him forever. Perfect love did that to a person and this had been perfect.
