I found myself fascinated throughout the majority of this book but really struggled with multiple chapters feeling repetitive from earlier chapters with only a tiny amount of new information thrown in.

Quite an important and eye-opening book, but got repetitive about two-thirds of the way through.

I was super excited to read this book because the topic of the opioid crisis in america is so interesting to me. I’ve watched almost every docuseries or show on the topic. However, this book was extremely disappointing. Took me about a month to get halfway through and I couldn’t bring myself to finish. Almost every chapter is the same story being told over and over and there’s not much of a plot. It also jumps around a ton between Mexico, Ohio, etc and it’s hard to keep up. Would love recommendations for other books on this topic if anyone has any!

The craziest combo of true crime story and corporate take down that I’ve ever read

this book made me cry yet gave me many reasons to be hopeful and optimistic about the strength and resilience of this country (a tall order in such a bleak year) - a surprisingly restorative read on an important albeit devastating topic.
