Depressing. I think Akpan chickened out by making them short stories, since there was no need for a glimmer of hope or spark of happiness.

Wish I could do 3.5. It's hard to rate a book of different stories. I liked some more than others for sure. But this paints a very vivid portrait of African life. I do wish one of them would have gone on for a bit longer, although I can't remember its name.
