I need some time to process this. Holy shit. I’ve never read 700 pages so fast in my life. I have so many questions. My heart, in pieces. My brain, on the wall. My soul, well…
5 stars. Can’t wait for the next one. SJM if you fumble this as hard as ACOSF I will never recover.

I was shocked at the end. 800+ pages in and I didn't know I could be shocked like that.

It's slow to read for the first 2/3 of the book, it starts twisting and turning after that and the end leaves the reader a bit bewildered and anxious about the next book. Not her best, good. Hoping that the rest of the series improves. Still excessive use of the word F--- which is fine but it's like a word just discovered by a child and is somehow used at least once a page.

Severe lack of diversity.

HOSAB is a very unbalanced book focusing on character relationships for 85% of the book, leaving the plot and the world building very sketched out and underdeveloped.
However, I had the fun reading about Bryce, Hunt and the constellation of characters around her. I also loved what the author started at the end, but I hope that she will invest more space in the plot and lore in the next books.

So I really do love this series, just can’t give it 5 stars because it didn’t absolutely rip my heart out like HOEAB did (the first in the series). Still really great, though I will say it felt like some things were thrown in there either just to juice it up or because SJM was going in a different direction originally and had to change. I will say the ending had me rereading it about 20 times and I will admit I screamed when I finally managed to put the book down.
I do feel a little like some of the things with Danika was just pulled out of thin air and had no basis formed in the first book. It felt like her being “secretive” was the reason for everything and there wasn’t any “oh yeah x makes  sense cause of y”, you know?
Super excited for the next one, just hope that

Holy shitfuck. This is my favourite Sarah J Maas series so far. I love the story, the characters and the setting. I am in constant awe how well thought out these books are. Information that was dumped upon us on some random page in the first book come back to make itself relevant again. Ever word she writes will come back to claim its meaning and I enjoy every second of it. This ending will keep me in knots until the next book comes out, and I simply can not wait for that day to arrive. Have a sexy, feisty, funny and emotional read with this one!
