There’s that saying “There’s always one in the crowd” Well today I’m the one. I did not enjoy this book…at all. I have love several other books by this author but this one was so overly immature and juvenile that I struggled to finish. The characters Ty and Chase were not believable as a couple and I just couldn’t connect with them.

This wasn't my favourite A Torre book, but it was a solid sports romance - with a bit of suspense thrown in.

I like Chase and Ty well enough, but I found some parts of their story to be very cliched. It wasn't a super unique story, but the characters made it worth reading.

I also didn't think the conclusion had the impact it could have. The revelations were shocking in some ways, but I really wasn't that invested in the killings to be completely honest.

Moonshot was a wild ride, but not up to par with the author's other works.

… … …

… …I’m not sure where to start exactly…. …

I’m blown away! There is baseball, romance, and mystery. What more could a girl like me ask for? I was not prepared to the anxiety level that this book produced for me; it was 110% worth it though. I did not read any reviews prior to reading; I only knew what was listed in the book summary. And I am glad I went into this with that limited knowledge. That being said my review of the plot will be short and sweet (spoiler free).

We join Ty who is barely legal and the daughter of a legendary pitcher for the Yankees. The Yankees are her family & baseball is her life. Chase is portrayed as the bad boy of baseball and ends up getting traded to the team. The plot seems like the classic romance story. But there’s more then that; heartbreak & then women start dying.

Alessandra Torre does an amazing job with her plot. I felt so many emotions ranging from joy, bliss, heartbreak, hopeful, anxiety, shock, and surprise. There were so many twists and turns; hold on tight. Ty tells the story from first POV. While we hear Chase’s side in 3rd person. It works wonderfully together. Don’t be intimated by the number of chapters there are when you first open the book. There’s a lot but they are shorter, quick reads. When you start thinking the plot is going to slow down, finish that chapter and read the next. You will be sucked right back in. This is easily a binge worthy book if you set the time aside for it.

Moonshot is a book that I want to read again for the first time!!!!!

2 stars. Easily my least favorite Torre book and that’s saying a lot because this is the first time I’ve rated a book of hers less than four stars. This was just a boiling hot ass mess. It started off good but once the hero entered the picture it derailed and kept derailing off the track until the very end. I liked none of the characters. Not only are Ty and Chase terrible and annoying people but they felt kinda empty and flat. There was not much to them at all nor did I feel the chemistry between them. The romance made me feel icky and I didn’t know before hand that this book deals with my least favorite trope but boy does it. A lot. This was luckily a very quick read and addictive in it’s awfulness. It kept me reading in a “I can’t believe this bullshit is really happening” kinda way and I hate myself for it honestly.

The suspense came out of nowhere and made absolutely no sense. The reveal of the suspect was lame because we don't know the character and the reasoning for everything was nonsensical. That entire plot was just a fail.

Still love me some Torre but no ma’am this wasn't it. At least it was well written.

5 Home Run Stars!

First, when I saw the book was about my beloved Yankees, the best team ever, I was elated! (My husband and I traveled to Yankee Stadium for opening weekend when the new field opened in April 2009!) I knew I loved Alessandra Torre's writing since I count Hollywood Dirt as a favorite (Cocky the Chicken! ha!), so this went on my TBR list as soon as I heard about it.

On top of being a scorching hot sports romance set on the field of my favorite baseball team, it was fast-paced and suspenseful! Beginning with forbidden romance, the book fast-forwarded a few years and became a second-chance romance with a murder mystery mixed in. I absolutely did not see the ending coming, but loved the ride Torre took me on. This will definitely be a re-read for me!

I don't have words for the way this book affected me. MOONSHOT is so many different things that it just tore through me in every possible way, and it hurt so good. It's a second-chance, coming-of-age, forbidden, angst-filled romance with some suspense sprinkled on top. There was so much depth to the characters and the story that I couldn't help but be sucked in. Tyler made me love baseball...and she doesn't even play it. Her dedication, devotion, and love to the craft of the game romanticized the sport and it actually had me seeing it in a whole new light. Ms. Torre set up the romance between Tyler and Chase in such a uniquely hypnotic way that the burn felt more like a sweet pain, one that you keep going back for no matter how much you know it's going to hurt. The affection and compassion that Chase shows not only to the game that he loves but to Tyler is absolutely addicting.

(I've written and erased things so many times in this review already because everything I want to say says too much.) I loved how the suspense peek-a-booed continuously throughout where it never overshadowed but instead enhanced the story. The love story was top-notch in execution, and I fell in love every little bit as they did. Baseball was such an enjoyable secondary character (yes, even though it's not a person) because it was the driving force in these two characters meeting and essentially giving them the opening for their second-chance. It was a passion for both Tyler and Chase, and yeah it's a sport, but it was palpably a big part of the story.

And the angst...I waited to bring this up, but it hurt. But all second-chance love stories bring on an aching pain to the heart, and MOONSHOT was no different. I felt the pain and the loss and the sacrifices made. And then I felt the tension and the pull and the things overlooked. It was GOOD. All of it. Ms. Torre has a way with telling a story, and I will read whatever she writes, regardless of the genre. This standalone romance will give you a dang good book hangover, and it will need a place on your shelf. It was beautifully romantic, heart-achingly painful, and a literal moonshot from the field.
