I love Jodi Picoult! She can write about the most controversial issues of the day in a most entertaining way. I just think the way this book worked from the event backwards didn’t click with me . I found it long and drawn out . I marked it as read but actually gave up around page 179 then read the last chapter which was the epilogue. I hate not finishing but time is so precious these days that I just could invest my time any more . I guess I’ll have better luck at the next book I pick up of hers . I loved loved loved “The Storyteller” !

Being a big Jodi Picoult fan I knew I was going to love this book and I wasn’t disappointed. Religious beliefs differ for all which often results in conflicts of opinion but this story line really explored these conflicts and how this affects all life.

Took me a while to get into the book. The reverse chronology way of telling stories doesn't work very well here, in my opinion. Some parts were quite cheesy, which took me by surprise (not the typical Picoult fare). A 3.5 stars from me.

Disappointing read I almost gave up on

Half a star really. Having read other Jodi Picoult books, I had hopes for this one of being good. It is well written, like her other ones. However, I didn't like how the story is told backwards, the side notes about the characters (too many in my opinion), and the many clinical references and statistics. In fact, I found myself skimming half the time over the side comments and back stories of the characters, which really didn't add too much to the story in places. And I skimmed because I was bored. I didn't mind the subject manner, though again, so many clinical references at times that it felt like nonfiction. A disappointing a read.
