the most intense, and in a certain sense, the most significant book - ever?

Laugh out loud funny at times, but that doesn't change the fact that I wasn't too sure what I was reading at times. What started as a satirical take on overconsumption and celebrity culture in media seemed to lose steam as the book went on. Some of the narrative elegance got lost in the need to create a bigger and more outrageous parody as the novel continued, the parody about the end of the book feeling tired and ingenuine, lacking some of the creativity that it had in the beginning. Still, a super fun book, very interesting, albeit very confusing at times. It seemed to me to require a need to fluctuate between taking it at face value and really digging into the passages.

Found the freestyling narrative too annoying to get too far in.

A rambling and gimmicky mess, which I suppose was kind of the point, but whatever it is, it wasn’t for me

I read this in elementary school because a relative left it in the shelves in a shared family cabin and I read everything on them; ever since I have urgently wished I knew which of my cousins or aunties (or ???) was the one who left it there. An enduring mystery. I'm sure this made some kind of formative weirdo imprint on my artistic soul
