The trope of finding family and trying to protect family in a post-apocalyptic world is a common trope but I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. The simply writing style could still convey deep melancholy and longing without being flashy so that made it a really nice and easy reading experience (despite dealing with obviously dire themes). 

This could be five stars but I’m taking one star off for how the story ended. It felt like it ended on a bit too good of a note. Especially, since about ¾ through the novel I expected the ending to be heartwrenchingly sad and painful. Perhaps, the author wants to convey a message of hope – in spite of the rest of the occurrences in the novel it did feel a bit too idealistic though.

Krótka opowieść o chaosie, post-apokaliptycznym świecie i zezwierzęceniu, które może pojawić się w ludziach na ogromną skalę. Poznajemy kilku mieszkańców Korei w momencie, gdy uciekli już że swojego kraju do Rosji. Na świecie panuje wirus, który doprowadził do zachwiania się kręgosłupów, zarówno moralnych jak i tych utrzymujących porządek na Ziemi. A my, oprócz czegoś, co wygląda jak koniec świata, doświadczamy miłości rodzącej się między Jiną, a Dori.

Bardzo przejmująca była scena, w której Jina rozgląda się po członkach swojej rodziny, zdając sobie sprawę, że to tak naprawdę obcy ludzie. Opuścili by ją i jej ojca, gdyby tylko mogli się w ten sposób uratować. Ze zrobieniem im krzywdy nie byłoby inaczej. A jednak wędrują razem. Czym jest więc rodzina? Więzami krwi, na które nie mamy wpływu, czy ludźmi z którymi autentycznie coś nas łączy i wiemy, że mamy wspólne cele, chcemy iść szczęścia.

Wiele rzeczy nie jest powiedzianych wprost, niektóre autorka postanowiła owinąć w kokon tajemnicy. Styl pisania całkowicie mnie ujął, chociaż nie zawsze literatura koreańska pod tym względem mnie ujmuje. Szczególnie oszczędność w słowach, miejscami nawet oschłość.

Przed przeczytaniem sprawdźcie TW's, bo jest ich dużo!
