So good!

This was a great story. I picked it because it looked interesting and had the listening option with KU. If you like Maya Banks KGI books or Lori Fosters Men of Honor, you’ll like this one! I can’t wait to read the next knf.

Fantastic read

Absolutely loved the story!! Characters were very well written and this was a great start to the series! I will definitely be checking out the rest of this series. It pulled you in from beginning to end and connects you to all the characters.

This was surprisingly action-packed and gritty for it's short length! Definitely checking out more from this author.

Be warned that the violence here gets pretty graphic.

There's little to no substance to this book, which is totally fine as long as you go in expecting that (which I did).

I think my biggest gripe with the book was the casual misogyny. Why was Gray commenting on the attractiveness of a kidnap victim when he's rescuing her? Why did he call her "kitten" upon first meeting her? Why did he expect her to give up everything for him? I could go on, but you get the point.

Overall, 2.5 out of 5. It could have been a lot better, but it wasn't as bad as I expected it to be. I won't be reading another book in this series.

So... that was a lot better than I was expecting. The first scene didn’t flow all that well for me, as if the author was pushing all types of facts and information to make it sound like she knew what she was talking about. After the characters started to have a dialog it flowed much more smoothly.

Gray is my kind of guy, sweet and sexy at the same time. The addition of the villains point of view really shows the reader the type of situation Allye would have been forced into. All in all a really good read.

Defending Allye is the first book in the in the Mountains Mercenaries series. I don't think this one grab me as much as her others in the Ace security series. The story Gray and Allye starts slowly and things happened really slowly throughout the book. All in all this story was interesting. I will continue to read the others in the series to see if they get better. I still love her books so I hope the others will be more gripping

Wow, great start to a new series, didn't even need world building as I dove right into the story. It kept me on my toes and glued to my kindle. I know I'm going to love the rest of these alpha heroes in the following stories, even their mysterious handler. This book was action packed, heart racing and steamy too. If you love alpha males and their strong women, then you'll love this book and hopefully the series as it unfolds. I know I'm looking forward to it.

Starting off with a rescue on a sinking boat in the Pacific, to sex trafficking, kidnappers and an a seriously messed up bad guy - this book was crazy entertaining. This was dark for a Susan Stoker book. But the suspense has me turning pages.

I’m a huge Susan Stoker fan. I’ve been waiting for this series to start ever since we were teased with Ryder’s book Claiming Felicity.

Gray is a ex-Navy SEAL who now works for the Mountain Mercenaries and is also an accountant (of all things!). He leaves the SEALS after a mission destroys him and finds a new band of brothers. With them he’s able to keep saving people, along with help from their boss, Rex. Speaking of Rex, he intrigues me. I really hope we see more of him in later books. And more of the team! And Dave!

Allye is a dancer with Waardenburg syndrome characterized by two different colored eyes and a streak of white hair. This uniqueness, which made her own mother reject her as a child, attracts the attention of a collector, Nightingale, who literally collects unique humans and keeps them in cages like animals.

After initially escaping his grasp, Nightingale starts hurting people lose to a Allye in the hopes of drawing her to him. With time running out for her friends can Allye and Gray get past their own history and save each other?

I received this ARC for my honest review.
