Oh my goodness - what an addictive audiobook! I actually started with this author with her book EVEN THE SCORE which is technically a stand alone, but features characters from this series as well. I loved that one on audio too! Hockey, Minnesota, adorable inn on a lake, sweet single mom of twins and a FABULOUS male lead made me swoon. I'm so happy all of these books are free as audiobooks with a Kindle Unlimited subscription - it makes it so so easy to binge on them!

Sweet

I really enjoyed these characters. Their motivations and actions made sense. I am totally caught up in their lives, and can't wait to read the next book. Also, adorable kids.

I have been reading a ton of heavy books, just filled with heavy topics and they leave me feeling weighed down. They've all been great books but I was looking for something light and easy. This was the perfect book for that. I was rec'd this book by KellyRachelle over on Twitter. Thanks again Kelly for the great rec!!

Ok, lets get down to this book. Kacie's life is guarded. She lives and works with her mom at the Inn that her mom owns. She has two little girls; twins, and has an ex that left her high and dry four years ago. Kacie doesn't know how she could let someone back in to her life and right now she's not really looking for anyone. One night it's storming pretty bad and the inn had an influx of patrons. The last one though, he's a young, good looking guy that peaks an interest in her. She's attracted to him and she almost thinks that she might let him in, then she finds out that he's a professional athlete. He could have anyone he wants. Why her and she's not going to let her heart get broken again.

Confidant that he could beat the storms that were coming Brody left his parents house for his condo. Only to realize all too soon that he was going to have to find somewhere to hunker down and wait out them out. He went down some roads only to get his truck stuck in mud in a driveway for an inn. Little did he know, on the other side of that door was something he didn't even know he was looking for. Kacie was beautiful and she had beautiful daughters, his Twinkies. Brody feels something for Kacie, he can't pinpoint what it is but he likes her a lot. Convincing her that she has to open up and let go a little is a hard task but its one he's up for.

I so loved the way Brody just took things as they came. He wasn't freaked out about the girls, he embraced them and loved them like they were his own daughters. He took his time with Kacie even though he wanted them to be more. He understood her hesitancy. There were a few times I wanted to shake Kacie but with all she had been through I understood why she was so off limits. Fantastic book!!

Genre: contemporary romance, Harlequin style

Characters: Likeable enough. Kacie- single mom with twins, helping her mom run an inn. Brody-hot shot hockey player.

Plot: Rather predictable.

Style: Alternating POV's.

Overall: I was wanting to read something light and easy, since I'd been reading some pretty heavy and angst-filled stuff. This fit the bill.

This wasn't bad just a bit bland. I didn't hate reading it but I wouldn't rush to read it again.

I think some sport romances are really steamy and full of chemistry but this was just a little flat and dull. The characters were fine, the setting was fine just no fire and it just wasn't a page turner for me.

I really enjoyed this love story. It was the typical famous man heavily pursuing, for the first time in his life, a woman that is broken. The thing that made it special was Brody, the handsome hockey player. Kacie lives in her mother's inn with her twin five year old daughters. When Brody meets them he nicknames them Twinkies. Seriously, how cute is that?

I rooted for Brody throughout this whole sweet story. I was a bit annoyed with Kacie's reluctance at committing to Brody. Sometimes it's just too much, but Brody made up for it in spades.

Also, Brody has a hockey friend, Viper, that was completely awesome. I'd love to see him get his HEA.

This is book 1 of 2, so far. There's a 2.5 coming out in August. I'd love to see what that's about.

This is a cute romance with adorable little Twinkies that will steal your heart and an amazing hockey player that will make you fall in love.

What can I say? I'm a sucker for this kind of romance. You know, the big hot-shot athlete falling for the normal girl and turning out to be not only a good guy, but the best.

This is exactly what this is about. A lot of fluffy sweet times between Kacie and Brody, but also between them and her little "Twinkies". It's flat out honey sweet. Bordering on too sweet, but I'm going to let that slip past. There could have been a bit more of Blair to counter the sweetness.

The one thing standing between this book and a 5-star rating is that both MCs are a bit annoying at times.
SpoilerKacie is too afraid of confrontations and instead of talking when an issue arise she tucks her tail and runs home to lick her wounds. Brody on the other hand is said to be stubborn and unwilling to let Kacie go, but instead of meeting her insecurities he just rolls his thumbs. When he finds out Blair and Kendall is the two who ran Kacie off what does he do? Well, nothing. He stays at home, doesn't call or text. He goes to a charity dinner he promised to take her to, but not alone but with an other woman. THEN, a week or so after finding out he turns up with said woman at the inn. Then after the Piper incident he does the same. No calls, no texts. Then he just shows up.
Spoiler
But all that was just minor annoyance.
