I'm not a Kamala Harris fan, but she's written a nice children's book, highlighting human values she found in people she grew up with: supportiveness, friendship, exploration, kindness, hard work, etc.

Was okay, but didn’t really read like a children’s book.

I got this through my library as an audio book when I was looking up to read her autobiography as Harris is now a candidate for Vice President. This was a very nice book about what to look for in everyday heroes:

Makes You Feel Special
Believes in You
You Can Count on Them
Makes You Feel Brave
Stand Up for What's Right
Best Friend
Makes You Feel Save
Teaches You
Kind
Explores with You
Work Hard
Protects Others
Makes a Difference - Together

Wonderful little book from VP elect Kamala Harris describing what a real super hero is.
Inspiring the leaders of tomorrow to give, to share to look beyond themselves, and to serve others.
S great little read, which was inspiring and challenging.
Well worth reading and thinking about no matter how old you are.

In this children's book, Kamala Harris shows readers what it takes to be a real life superhero.

This came in with a stack of donations - my community has been so generous this year donating books on my wishlist for my library. I recorded myself reading this book to my students and added it to the slide that they will use this week for their library lesson. So many themes to cover, Valentine's day, Lunar/Chinese New Year, Black History Month and President's day weekend.
What I love about this book is that students saw Kamala Harris become the Vice President of the United States and this book describes how she became a senator. Students of all ages can learn to look for superheroes and take the pledge (I loved the pledge!) Older students can write a list of who their own superheroes are. They might also look at what it takes to be an attorney or a senator - who is the senator that represents them in the state senate and the U.S. Senate? What do these people do? What if they wrote a letter to this senator? What would they say?
