It was an aggressively okay book that definitely read as a middle grade - it unfortunately wasn’t as fun, exciting, interesting as the first one.
Onyeka made sooo many mistakes that can be chalked up to her age but we’re also just dumb despite her age. A lot of the choices she made turned her into a very annoying character that made the story annoying.
Overall, this book does serve as a bridge for book 3 but I’m very unsure if I’ll continue on with the series.

Action packed, thrilling, empowering and ridiculously addictive, Onyeka and the Rise of the Rebels is standout sequel to what I believe of one of the most exciting, compelling and best written middle grade series out there.
