As someone who absolutely loves the podcast MFM, I was so excited to read this book! The true charm of the podcast lies not necessarily in the contents, but in its hosts, and their insights, jokes, and realness. It feels like sitting down and talking about true crime with your best friends, and that makes it so accessible. I’m happy to say that their book definitely has the same vibe. Less about true crime, and more a memoir, Georgia and Karen use this book to describe parts of their lives and how they have become the people that they are. Throughout their anecdotes, they intersperse humor and life lessons that are immensely enjoyable. I really liked learning more about them as people, and it’s giving me a better appreciation for the podcast as a whole.

Essence of the book - we all need therapy; average people can achieve success; do the work and overcome

This is a great book! I wish I could hand it out to teenage girls to read. It’s so relatable as someone who used to be a teenager.

I’ve been listening to MFM since their third episode and I’ve always admired how honest and open Karen and Georgia are. This book was no exception. From their struggles of mental health, drug addiction to their family relationships, they laid it all out for us to read (or listen to).

The best thing about it is that there are so many people who are able to relate to their stories and there’s something to learn from it.

I’m thankful to them both for getting me through some really tough times. I’m glad that I found their podcast and stuck with them all these years later.

Stay sexy and appreciate your favourite podcast hosts,
Emira

Obviously as a Murderino I'm giving this book 5 stars. I think everything Karen and Georgia wrote about in this book was really uplifting and helpful. They're such good examples of "you can survive shitty situations" and "you will get through this hardship" and "you can succeed in your life even if you're really struggling right now". I really loved learning more about their backgrounds and their lives. I could also totally hear their voices in their sections, which means the writing wasn't bleached with editing. Anyway. Loved it.

PS: I think a non-Murderino could also learn a lot of lovely motivational things from this book, but it's definitely a book that will mostly be enjoyed by listeners.

3.5 stars. It's a light heated book that would probably be even more enjoyable if I listened to the podcast.

The best part about listening to a podcast like MFM is, in my opinion, feeling like you’re not alone. Listening to Karen and Georgia over the past few years has had such a huge impact on my life. And even more than the advice and the knowledge they’ve given me, I’ve found new friends who are also Murderinos. I even view Karen and Georgia as my friends (lol) because I’ve been there as they’ve grown throughout this huge journey, and I know many Murderinos can relate. This book provided me with more insight into where both Karen and Georgia have come from and how this whole experience has affected them. They are super open and vulnerable about their childhood and young adult experiences, as well as the knowledge they’ve gained through their many therapy sessions. The book is hilarious, includes a ton of MFM inside jokes, and gives real life advice that K&G have learned through therapy about living the best life we can. I loved this book!
