Fascinating to learn about a species of owls I know nothing about. I enjoyed learning about what initial overtures into learning about the owl looked like. It wasn’t life changing or even probably memorable but it was enjoyable while reading it and I do want to learn more.

What a great read! Fun stories and notes from lots of fieldwork in Primorye. You learn so much about fish owls and the work that has gone into helping to conserve the habitat they need. Absolutely loved it!

Really fascinating portait of life of a research biologist and on the ground conservation. It is daily log style and evokes the environment vividly. It was both entertaining to a non-biologist and very informative. I kept wishing I was reading it while in a winter cabin. I would recommend this if you are interested in conservation, Russian culture at all, birds, and reading an outdoor adventure story.

Not usually a huge fan of books like this one (non-fiction/scientific) but 1. I love owls and 2. Brittany recommended it and she never steers me astray. The perfect blend of science, tracking, and stories from the field.

Boring, repetitive, and very little info on owls
