Achebe does not hold back in these essays (about Nigeria, Africa, colonialism, capitalism, racism), and the result is brilliant.
Like he says, in "Africa's tarnished name" (while roasting Joseoh Conrand for his racism):
"...Without doubt, the times in which we live influence our behavior, but the best or merely the better among us, like Livingstone, are never held hostage by their time."
A great fast read, from one of the greatest (authors, thinkers...) of Nigeria, Africa, and the world.
