Enjoyable but the 2nd and 3rd were more... exciting, thrilling? I think I would have enjoyed this one more had I read it first but it fell a little short for me. Still thrilling and full of suspense and mystery, and just like the 2nd and 3rd I had a hard time picking out the killer. 3 stars.

Humm... Not my favorite in this series. The plot was good, and I enjoyed how the author took two seemingly unrelated crimes and tied them together, that was actually a great twist that I hadn't seen coming. My problem is that I just didn't feel the chemistry, I spent a lot of time rolling my eyes at Wendy and to be honest Joe didn't do a whole lot for me either. On a whole the book was rather bleh for me with the exception of when the two cases were tied together. Kate is running from the most notorious hit man in the country. She just wants to be safe and have her life back. Murph never expected to come home from a deployment to a woman in his bed. He can see her secrets and lies before she even thinks of them.
Really enjoyed this! Kate is so strong, I wouldn’t be able to handle everything she’s gone through. I love how protective Murph is and their chemistry together.

Kate Bridge witnessed a notorious assassin kill one of her friends. An FBI trap to catch him at her fake funeral goes wrong and she almost dies. Unwilling to risk her family until the assassin has been apprehended Kate goes on the run, living under the radar.
Murphy Dolan has been invalided out of the Army Reserves after a wrong call leaves much of his troop dead or injured. Murph can't even go back to his old job as a policeman until he can pass the fitness test. The last thing he needs is to find a strange woman is subletting his house from his loser brother.
Murphy soon notices some strange happenings, a dark sedan idles just down the street for too long, his possessions have been searched - is it Kate? For her own part Kate can't work out if Murphy is delusional or if the assassin has found her. Can they trust each other to out the assassin?
I liked this, whilst Kate occasionally acted stupidly it was understandable in the context of not knowing or trusting Murphy, especially since he seemed to be in denial about his PTSD. The identity of the assassin trying to kill Kate was also a good piece of misdirection - it could have been any number of people, all of whom I suspected at one time or another.

This was the first book I've read by Dana Marton - it won't be my last! The characters were tough and intriguing. The plot twisted in lots of directions. A great read!!

This was another good entry into this series. Joe Kessler is a police officer in Broslin. He's also the town's favorite son. He was a standout high school football player. He's really a great guy who is always working to make things better. Wendy Belle is a model who has a young son. The police captain asks Joe to play body guard for Wendy. She has an abusive ex-boyfriend who doesn't want to be ex. There is a lot of action in the book. The romance between Joe & Wendy is a joy to read. Both have things in their past that are roadblocks but they keep working through them. I enjoyed the ending.

This book had an interesting premise and lived up to that. Kate witnesses a murder for hire. The assassin tries to kill her. The FBI lets everyone think she's dead and sets up at her funeral to catch him. However, he knows she's alive and comes after her. Not believing that the FBI can protect her, she flees. It's been 18 months and she's been living off the grid moving every few months. She works jobs where she is paid in cash. She changes her name and has no real ID. She's staying for a few months in Broslin Creek renting a house of a soldier who is deployed. However, Murphy Dolan comes home early and isn't aware his brother rented his house out. Murphy is recovering from wounds sustained in Afghanistan. He quickly realizes that Kate is in trouble. He wants to help her and gets her to tell him her story. He tells her that he will keep her safe. They believe the assassin is in Broslin Creek so they decide to set a trap. What happens is complicated but interesting. There was a strong romantic undertone to the book and this played out nicely. The full story was not resolved but should be resolved in a future Broslin Creek book. My first book by this author. I'll definitely read more in the series.
