What Happens Now? started out pretty good. I liked the main character, Lil, and the British wit (think modern Bridget Jones). I empathized, and related too well, to Lil's situation of online dating after a break up with a long-term partner. I was still happily listening when Lil goes on her first date with Max, that turns into sex at his place. When she wakes up, Max isn't there and continues to ghost her. Then boom, there is a wench in the plan when Max appears on TV and we learn more about him.

At this point I just lost interested in the story. And, so I think, do I pursue this book, or just cut my losses? I turned to the reviewing community. After reading several reviews,

I’m sad and annoyed. I thought this was going to center around the romance of Max and Lil but it more-so was about Lil’s life. There was literally 20% romance, I’d say. The ending disappointed me too, like that was it?

It was a fun read and was hoping that it’d be my favorite but it didn’t reach that level.

I really wanted to like this. The premise was great but the story was ...forgettable. The main couple  had no chemistry and it felt at the end that they
Spoiler got together because of the baby, not because they really liked each other.

I didn't hate it, that's why its not 1 star but it was very meh.

I had read The Plus One from Sophie Money-Coutts and really enjoyed it and was so pleased that I was accepted to review her second book, What Happens Now?
It following Lil’s life from breaking up for a long term relationship and having her first date with Max, him ghosting her and then finding out she is pregnant and the following 9 months. It had me laughing out loud a lot of the time throughout the book. I love Sophie Money-Coutts writing, both her books have made me laugh but also have the emotion and rawness that is very real for most people too.
Absolutely brilliant!

It was everything the blurb suggested, the plot was pretty much what I was expecting and I enjoyed the characters. It was a light hearted easy going summer read. I did however have a few issues with parts of the story line, more with the author almost making Lil superior in this situation compared to Max, but it didn't ruin my enjoyment of the book. When your following the time frame of a pregnancy and one of the main characters is absent for a fair chunk of the story, its difficult to keep a reader entertained and I think the author did this pretty well.

It was good! It's the kind of book that would make a good tv show or movie adaptation.

By the ending I thought this had to be a duet, as I feel there was quite a bit left open. But it doesn't appear to be that way
