4.5!!!!!! This was the perfect ending to the movie magic series. The epilogue alone had me tearing up!! I loved seeing everyone together. Sophie might be my fave FMC of this series…she nestled into my heart right from the start, just like she did Mitch. They were perfect together—Mitch was so patient and eager to prove to her that she deserved the world, and his love. Sophie was hesitant to let her walls down but with the help of her oldest friend she slowly learned to let herself love and trust that Mitch would stick around. It was so beautiful and so so SO well done. Dani‘s voice is one of a kind.

Thank you Dani for an ARC of this final installment of your magical series!

Without a doubt, Mitch was the most fun character of the series. Seriously, he was a freaking delight. Dani said he's Kronk coded and now I can't unsee it.... but I'd say he's better. 😁 The way he constantly lightened the mood and cracked jokes always made me smile. Not to mention his never ending patience and respect of Sophie's boundaries. It is actually impossible to get mad at him bc he's just an all-around good guy.

Sophie, our gal who avoids hurts by keeping everyone at arms length. Her hesitance and loneliness hit hard and I loved that Mitch helped Sophie take down those walls and open herself up to all relationships bc that Sophie was just so much happier. Aaaand when she finally admitted her feelings for Mitch? The way HE. LIT. UP. Despite being a literal ray of sunshine, Sophie's love quieted some of Mitch's insecurities and I loved that for him.

Now, let's talk about the imaginary friends. First of all: how creative?! And second: HOW FUN?! I loved everything about our duo Levi and Eva. Their meddling. Their cute little couple moments. THEIR LOVE FOR MITCH AND SOPHIE. They honestly felt like parents and they were the absolute best. THAT ENDING. DANI!!! 😭😭😭

And if you've read the whole series, you'll be in for a fun little surpise. I won't say what it is but I'm sure you can guess. It was honestly the perfect wrap up. ❤

Full of heat, heart and humor. This last novella in the Movie Magic series delivered all the feels in the perfect, easy to read package. I loved this reverse grumpy/sunshine, workplace romance set in a corporate archives with two meddling imaginary friends/spirits. I have enjoyed every single one of these books and couldn't adore the blend of magic and romance if I tried. If you haven't experienced Dani McLean's unique blend of magic you are missing out. Highly, highly recommended!! Many thanks to the author for sending me an early ARC copy in exchange for my honest review!

We wrap up our time in the magical city of Chance with The Forces of Love, the fifth novella in the Movie Magic Novella series. All five can be enjoyed as standalones, as each story is so fun and unique in its own way! I really enjoyed this grumpy (her)/sunshine (him), workplace romance. My favorite part, though, was the influence of the imaginary friends both Sophie and Mitch had since childhood, and their meddling ways of getting them to find each other and break down each other’s well-constructed emotional walls. Dani McLean has done it again!

Thank you to the author for an advanced review copy!

I won The Forces of Love in a giveaway and honestly wasn't expecting much. Thinking it'd be a quick, easy palette cleanser to help with my book slump, I picked it up to read this past week and I'm so happy because I actually enjoyed this so much!!

I haven't read any of the other Movie Magic Novellas but found that the only time I needed to know anything about the others was in the epilogue. Luckily the whole rest of the book was focused on Sophie and hottie Mitch Langford - seriously he is so hot and nerdy and knows 90s boy bands and can sing MMMbop!!

I loved Sophie so much and could relate to her and her struggles with trusting people - even though she was kinda rude about things but I didn't hold it against her because I've done the same thing. Mitch was so kind to her and really took his time and didn't force her into anything she didn't want and I wish he was my bestie so he could help me with my issues!

Everyone lives in a place called Chance which is just the cutest and really helped me to keep an open mind with the imaginary friends. I was really worried I was going to have to DNF the book because of them but I kept telling myself to just enjoy it and I ended up wishing they were actually featured more! Overall, The Forces of Love was a really cute book and I hope to read the other ones in 2024!

"Sophie wasn't here to make friends, and if she was, it wouldn't be with the human equivalent of an overgrown Labradoodle. Especially when that was exactly her type."

In the latest installment of Dani McLean's ode to Hallmark movies and romcoms, Sophie and Mitch are the exact kind of opposites-attract, grumpy-sunshine, workplace romance that makes a reader swoon. The twist here is that the titular Forces of Love aren't just the luck of forced proximity, it's Sophie and Mitch's imaginary friends from growing up (who happen to be married in their spiritual realm). The meddling of Levi and Eva lead Sophie and Mitch to open up to one another, first as friends and then as partners.

I loved how this book put an emphasis on friendship first and foremost. Much of Sophie's journey was not just letting Mitch in, but letting the rest of her coworkers get to know her. Both abandoned as children, Mitch and Sophie cling to their imaginary friends into their thirties because those are the people who never left them. Part of growing up involves letting their imaginary friends go and letting others fill the void. This novella is poignant, with a healthy dose of spice.

Come for: four different and unique perspectives (Mitch, Sophie, and their imaginary friends)
Stay for: a male main character who is still a puppy of a man, but not a golden retriever because that's overdone. This one is a labradoodle.

Thank you to Dani McLean for the ARC! Sorry that this review took so long to write, I wanted to do this novella justice :)

(I received an ARC for this book)

What a way to end the series! It’s so bittersweet writing this last review. I loved Sophie within the first paragraph. She’s my kinda people! Five seconds with Levi and Eva and I felt like a puppy dog ready to follow them anywhere they wanted to go! It was an instant lovesick obsession for me! I knew instantly I needed more of her coworkers in her bubble, too! But it was Mitch who came in and surprised me! He was like a breath of fresh air! And I couldn’t breathe him in fast enough! Levi and Eva, being the perfect imaginary friends they were, knew Sophie and Mitch just needed a little push. So they took things into their own hands and helped move things along. Sophie is her own worst enemy, and Mitch swoops in like a white knight ready to ward off her demons. This was perfection from the start. And then it ended on perfection thanks to its beautifully tied bow. Yes I did cry.

Dani did such a beautiful job with these characters, with this series. And I’m forever grateful she took the leap with something so different! If you’re looking for something new and exciting, I definitely recommend this series!
