It was ok. I didn't feel like much got resolved by the end, but I am also not compelled to read the next one. I enjoyed it while I was reading it, but I didn't think about it when I couldn't read it. I will probably not read the second one.

This book is what would happen if Stephen King's Under the Dome, Stephen King's The Stand, X-Men, and Lord of the Flies had a baby. This book has a very similar premise as Under the Dome, but I liked this one better.

I love a dystopian YA book and I am beyond excited there’s so many books in this series

If I could give this 3.5 stars, I would. The characters, for the most part, were kind of dull and one dimensional. The writing could be annoying, with telling and not showing a bit too much. But the plot is what kept me going and is why I'm desperate to read the rest of the books. I must know what happens next and why it's all happening. I just wish I cared what happened to the characters more.

Great book! Much better than I expected it to be. Also, being a Christian, I thought it was great to see the characters pray! :D

I did the audio book, and while the narrator was decent, there were certain inflections that were distracting...

A very intriguing story, with a unique twist on the dystopian future. But in all honesty, I felt that this book could have been about 1/3 shorter. There seemed a lot of extra and filler and drawn out scenes. While I appreciate the "Lord of the Flies" feel, seeing as no one over the age of 14 survived the "poof"...the level of violence was at times very difficult to digest. How did these young kids get to that level of violence in the matter of a few days?

I don't know if I will continue this series or not. I did get used to the narrator. And overall the story did keep me engaged, and wanting to find out what happens, but I am not sure I am invested enough to keep going through the remaining books.

This book was much darker than most of the other YA series I've read; much more adult than young adult. Throughout the book, you have no idea what's happening, other than no one over the age of 15 lives in the FAYZ. I really enjoyed the darkness of it; it felt like a Stephen King novel full of kids.

I can't wait to read more of the series.
