I’ve been searching for a book like this for a long time - a cozy fantasy set in Ireland with magic and low-stakes, kind fairies. Once I finished I immediately downloaded the sequel, not because the ending was a cliff hanger but because I just needed to be back in this world!
S.O. Callahan really does a wonderful job of using magic and fairies in a way that isn’t intense like some series but isn’t all sunshine and rainbows. Just a real lovely read!

DNF @ 11%.
I received this ebook in a Goodreads giveaway. The description and title were what made me interested in this book and I wish I could have experienced more of the plot before deciding on a rating, but unfortunately I couldn’t keep going.
The writing style was highly distracting. Specifically, when I started counting how many times a sentence started with ‘I’, ‘I’m’, ‘As I…’, etc, I knew I couldn’t continue with this book. Yes, this is written in first person, but there a plenty of first person perspective books that use more variety in sentence structure. I think with constructive feedback, and further growth in skill, this could be better.

It was very cosy, felt pretty cottagecore with lots of horses, tea, and fairies.

Very fairytale-like, cute characters, and I can definitely see why so many people enjoyed it.

Sadly, it didn't quite resonate with me as much as it might others.

When I started, I didn’t think I’d enjoy this one nearly as much as I did. The writing, especially the descriptive writing about the setting, bordered on the fanfiction level, but the characters were so thoroughly charming, and I wound up getting choked up by it in ways that were reminiscent of Rowan Speedwell’s Kindred Hearts. Plus, between this and Red, White, & Royal Blue, I think I’m into British Isle sports now.
