Triple Trouble

Will, Matt, and Trouble

I was looking forward to Trouble's story from having met him in book one. It was good, but not exactly what I thought it was going to be. The best scene was Trouble taking them on a date.

ā€œNothing happened, I tell myself. The chair held firm. But that doesnā€™t mean I didnā€™t fall.ā€

I was lucky enough to receive an arc of Jesseā€™s newest release. Triple Trouble is a high spice, low angst MMM set in the same world as The Step Bro Situation.

Iā€™ve read all of Jesseā€™s books and LOVE her writing style. She packs so much feeling and comedy and steam into each of her books and this one is no exception.

The first thing I will say about this book- it is SPICY. Like, chapter one, zero-wait-time spicy. So if youā€™re looking for fast paced steam, look no further, my friend.

I loved how each of these three characters had such distinct personalities. I feel like sometimes with three MCs, characters can feel a little muddled but thatā€™s not the case here. Mat- the sweet, smiling, golden retriever dude bro. Will- the serious, protective, scary yet hot best friend. And then comes Trouble- the confident, sexy, mysterious, out and proud beauty- who knocks these two friends on their asses with an epic sexual awakening.

Check this book out if you love:
-MMM romance
-Bi awakenings
-Fast paced spice
-Childhood best friends to lovers
-Banter
-DID I MENTION THE SPICE

Holy hot tamales. This book. Just like my beloved candies, this book is so spicy you need to mouth breathe for a moment to cool off before you get to all the sweet, chewy goodness inside that makes them so addictive and wanting more more more.

Running with this analogy, stay with me here ā€¦ Will is the hard outer coating thatā€™s sharp and protective while Mat is soft and sweet. And Trouble?! Well, heā€™s that addictive quality that they just canā€™t get enough of and keep wanting more more more.

I loved these three together and individually. They were each such distinct characters and yet melded together beautifully. Mat & Willā€™s obliviousness to the true nature of their friendship was absolute gold. And Trouble trying to stay unaffected by these two? God that was cute how he tried, but it was inevitable.

I love how Jesse is able to weave so much emotion into her books that initially may feel like theyā€™re just smut-forward. Itā€™s a subtle shift that isnā€™t always easy to spot, but the threads are woven so intricately that by the end you wonder how you ever thought it could be anything but a beautiful love story. (Well, the fact that I may have had to reread some hot af sexy scenes may invalidate that, but nah.

I had the best time reading this book. I was expecting it to be fun and smutty and sweet and it was that and so much more. THis is my first book by the author and it definitely wonā€™t be the last. The author has this heightened almost tactile style of writing emotions like Lust, affection, despair that I normally assosiate with paranormal romance and then contrasts this with snappy, hilarious and charming dialogue and sulituations that just made me love the overall style of storytelling.

Expect:
* Best friends to lovers
* Strangers to lovers
* Insta Lust
* MMM
* Double Bi-awakening
* Opposites attract
* All sorts of kink explorations - restraint, Bondage, objectification, sensory, role play, DP

All the characters were so well developed and their individual dynamics with each other were given so much time to organically play out that the pace felt perfect to me. Mattā€™s eagerness and authenticity was so endearing to me and Will totally had sweet stern daddy vibes and Trouble was .. difficult to encapsulate and perfect for these two!

The author maintains this mystery to Troubleā€™s character which adds to this clandestine and secret edgy feeling in the first half of the book that smoothly transitions to a deeper sweeter relationship developing in the second. I loved the ā€œtalking gameā€ as they were getting to know each other.

Also I appreciated how the author made all sorts of established family and relationship dynamics relevant and par for the course.
