Starts off a bit confusing and disconnected. Then transitions into a pretty interesting “Matrix”esque type future dystopian narrative where inhabitants of the distant future are living in a world where pharmaceuticals are used to convince people that things are great. Picks up where the novel switches to diary entries.

Lem clearly had a good time with wordplay, making up punny names for all the medications, and there are some good ones.

Otherwise this "novel" barely holds together. It reads as the ramblings of an LSD tripper, which is probably what he's going for, but I've read enough of these trip novels now.

So good! This book is an easy and quick read, but plants seeds in your mind that will bear interesting fruit later...

I absolutely love the concept of this book. In fact, I keep finding myself wanting to bring it up in conversation. But... for whatever reason... that felt like the longest 113 pages of my life

Tichy is such an academic. He's got it all. imposter syndrome, curiosity to his detriment, and anger at the establishment.
