A must read book. A good reminder that on either side of a war are people, families, children, lives lost, and lives forever altered. I fell in love with the Tran family, I felt empathy for all of their struggles, and I learned so much more about the history of Vietnam. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because I'm not a huge fan of when stories flip flop between time periods, but that's just me.
