this was my first read of Jimenez's and I really only picked it up because I want to read the third book in this series, but this HOOKED ME IN. I read half of this book in the first sitting--it was so engaging and something about the writing style made it really digestible and quick. I was also so impressed by Jimenez's ability to create a focus on real life issues (access to healthcare in remote communities, e.g.) while still illustrating a beautiful love story. I grew such an attachment to these characters, and I was rooting for them so bad; this is exactly what I want my romance books to make me feel.
the only reason I had to knock this read's rating down was because it included domestic abuse (both emotional and physical). I think it was a great respectful representation, and while it's on me to read the CWs, I missed them, and I don't think I was in the right headspace to be reading about it.
all that being said: I will be comin back to this series bc this book truly was sooooo good!!

After I got used to the male narrator and Daniel stood up, the story got really good. I think the discussions on DV were well done, Daniel and Alexis’ relationship was sweet, the spice was just enough, and the side characters did what they needed to do. All in all, I really enjoyed this.
