Tower of God Vol 2, is a continuation of the Tower of God manhwa, basically Korean comics. I've been a big fan of Tower of God since I found it via Webtoon. I've been wanting to support the print edition because of my enjoyment of the story and characters. It's been a long time since I've gone back and reread the beginning so it's enjoyable to go back and relive the adventure and see why I enjoyed the series so much in the first place.

The downside is that the early style is not nearly as good as later on, but I also find it fun to see how the art style of SIU gets better and more refined over time. We are within the early testing still as Bam the 25th and his trio of Kuhn and Rak try to make it through various tests and trials. It ends with them still in the middle of a tricky situation and I'll be looking forward to continuing it later on with Vol 3 releases in the fall.

A creative YA adventure story with a lot of potential, but has pacing issues.

We're following Bam as he travels up levels of a mysterious tower, needing to pass various dangerous puzzles and quests to ascend. The beginning of this story starts strong with Bam and his motley crew of teammates challenged to open one of 10 doors, opening the incorrect door will equal death. We're able to see how various teams pass the test and move on to the next challenge, which is a game of capture the 'crown'. However, the pacing falls apart here for me as we spend the rest of the book watching various characters trying to fight and strategize over the crown. Here character development was sacrificed for action sequences.

This book is best read while wearing a crown with a dagger hidden in your socks.

Thank you to NetGalley and Webtoon for this advanced reader copy.
