This was missing some indefinable thing, it just didn't have the same heart as other stories like it - stories about humans being kind to each other - but all the points for the intention!

Do you need a hug? Reading A Quiet Life is like getting a hug from your favorite person who tells you that even if things aren’t perfect, it’s going to be okay. Now I need to go be someone’s cardinal.

A Quiet Life is the sophomore novel by @joellawriting and was the heartwarming story I didn't know I needed.
I enjoyed #ALittleHope last year but I loved this one even more. And while it's ultimately a feel good story, it also covers the pain and heartache so many carry. Feeling less alone and supporting one another, even when we haven't walked in each other's shoes, really is what it is all about
Life has felt challenging this year in many ways, and A Quiet Life really helps restore your faith in humanity. If you are looking for a book to close out 2022, I highly recommend this one! Thank you to Scribner Books and NetGalley for my gifted review copies.

There are 3 characters dealing with loss, and trying to navigate their life after this experience. It's a beautiful story. I love the symbolism of being there when someone needs you the most, helping them to cope.

Another 4.5⭐️! This was such a big, warmhearted and wonderful story. I can't believe it's taken me this long to read it.
A Quiet Life focuses on three Pennsylvania residents, who all are experiencing loss within their lives. Each is alone and grieving in different ways - Chuck for his beloved wife, Kirsten for the father she adored, and Ella for her missing daughter. Gradually, their lives begin to cross paths as they gain strength and comfort from the support of others.
Although this is story about how grief and the many ways we cope - both publicly and privately - it is also about hope and compassion and our need for human contact and interactions. I adored each of these characters and loved watching them learn to navigate new waters.
It is definitely a slow, introspective story that would be perfect for a chilly autumn or winter day. But having read this on the cusp of summer, it still worked beautifully. I can't recommend this enough if you're looking for something to renew your faith in the power of kindness and human connection.
