Funny and fast-paced, but with some deeper issues as well.

If I need to recommend one Christmas themed book this year as someone who rarely clicks with Christmas books, it definitely would be this one!

The Plight Before Christmas was perfect, having enough of the Christmas atmosphere without being cliché. It was super funny, sweet, wholesome and hot damnn spicy. Santa, I've been a naughty girl but it was so worth it.

A slow burn second chance romance in a layered storyline with depth. It was emotional story not only about love but also about a wonderful family that will steal a smile and make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Hilarious and sweet, swoony and sexy, this is the Christmas book you need this holiday season.

Get a copy, make some hot chocolate and get ready to fall in love with love.

I just didn’t really connect with this one and it dragged. I got more enjoyment out of seeing the side characters’ marriage blow ups, than anything to do with the main characters angstily reconnecting.

And the hero’s explanation for why he had been such an asshole felt so out of left field and shoehorned in at the end. He’s super apologetic and accountable for his shit behaviour in the past, but the pacing and the way it all comes out just felt odd.

Easy 5 stars.

The family banter, the Christmas vibes, the raw emotions, the drama, the slow burn, the love story, the resolutions, the ending. This book had it all and I couldn’t put it down! Such a warm and cozy read!

I wanted to like this more than I did.

I found the steamy parts to be awkward—an intimate family Christmas with the family contrasts kind of weirdly with the explicit descriptions that were supposed to be the sexual tension building. I also feel like they had kind of a flimsy foundation—they dated for 8 months 17 years ago, and the only thing that they have in common in the present is their sexual tension. The extent of the sexual tension is weird as hell in the family-heavy setting too—a big thing was Whitney’s relationship with her nieces and nephews, and it’s jarring going from Payton’s baby talk to Eli reminiscing about sex with Whitney, or from the baby pooping all over Eli to Whitney fantasizing about him naked (that scene gave me whiplash). I expected steam but it got very vivid very early on.

Gave it an extra half star because the ending was cute.

LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! If you are looking for a Christmas romance, look no further! THIS IS THE BOOK!!!! I sought out a festive holiday story, and I got so much more. I didn’t think second chance romance was for me, but The Plight Before Christmas proved me wrong. Beautiful, heart-wrenching, funny, NOT CORNY (which is nearly impossible with Christmas books). I loved. Every. Second. Not a single boring moment. I absolutely loved how seamlessly the flashbacks were tied in with the present. The cast of characters is so vibrant and I actually cared about every single one of them. I sobbed multiple times

This was the CUTEST Christmas novel I've ever read. It's been a minute since I have laughed so much while reading, and I needed it. The family dynamics throughout the book were hilarious, and I think everyone who reads this will wish they had a family like the Collins'. I already knew I loved Kate Stewart but this was just icing on the cake.

5 stars, easily.

This is a heartwarming holiday romance that will captivate readers who crave a feel-good, second-chance love story with a dash of humor, nostalgia, and a healthy dose of Christmas magic.

Loved Kate's rom-com, I did laugh throughout the book. It is a second chance, slow burn done well. The story is told from dual POV, both sharing flashbacks of their shared relationship that happened 17 years ago. Their relationship didn't end well, and Eli is doing whatever it takes to get back in Whitney's good grace, I was rooting for Eli even though I didn't know if he deserved to be rooted for. Whitney's family gets together for Christmas and I even loved all the side characters, especially Peyton.

this book was a masterpiece. It blew my mind, made me ugly cry and laugh out laud. After breaking her heart in college Whitney wants nothing to do with Eli. But nobody informed her brother who asks him to come spend the holidays with them. What can go wrong?
