It is a bit outdated for me to fully relate, as it was written and published in the 70s, but it was a very interesting story. I think the part that upsets me more is that this book is pushed forward as a "real diary" even though it has been categorized as fiction, which seems to send me the message that the purpose of this book is more to scare kids and be anti-drug than it is to provide a true experience with drug addiction, which I suppose has it's merits. Still.

Total target book (iykyk). Main character doesn't grow, the last 20 pages dragged on and had no plot relevance (), tons of potential but fell so hard. It was a quick read that i read in probably 3 hours. The middle was hella interesting and my favorite part. None of the characters were remarkable and the main character was so annoying. Also that epilog pissed me off so badly and was lazy horrible writting. It suck cause the first part was so good and the way the character started her drug abuse was so well crafted but the overall book overshadowed that for me.....
Spoiler
should have ended the book after she left the mental asylumSpoiler
either commit to the idea of your character having a happy ending or a tragic one, you can't have both?????!!!!Graphic: Addiction, Drug abuse, and Drug use
Moderate: Rape and Death
Minor: Gore

This is supposed to be a 15 year old’s diary…and it’s just not believable as that. The language is nothing a teenager would use…not even in the 70s.

It would’ve been rated higher until I discovered this isn’t actually based off a real person. The 60s time period was very interesting.
