Loved the weirdness and the nonhuman narrator. The dark but not graphically gory story was enjoyable. Didn’t love the pacing though, felt like it took a long time to get through a short book. The end of the book was my favourite so I am glad I didn’t DNF, which I considered early on.

Very weird, yet fun, book. Written in a flowing unexpected way

Really struggling to make sense of it at the moment. Too many sources of stress in my life at the moment. Want to try again later.

These are the literary confessions of Porcupine who used to be an harmful animal double of his human master. The erudite, and caustic, porcupine tells the sorry tale of his existance for the Baobab tree, and he is a very entertaining narrator of the weird and wonderful/macabre goings on in the village. The book deals with some pretty big and dark subject matters, but with a light touch that still leaves you pondering them long after the book was put done.
