With powers of squirrel and girl, Doreen Green has honestly stolen my heart. I think I was sold on her the moment she beat Galactus with her kindness and wit. I don't think there's a single character part of this book that I don't adore to bits. Truly worth a read.

I have to say it was entertaining. I enjoy the fact that she looks like a normal girl instead of some unattainable paragon of female beauty. I think she could be a great role model for girls to just be themselves. She looks normal, she behaves in a normal way for her age (see hot crush...) and she's just a fun, geeky person to be around. I do appreciate that they allow her to be a bit of a nerd. The stories were cute, and it was far more lighthearted than graphic novels are wont to be at this time.

I didn't like the art style. At all. It's way too childishly drawn and, to be blunt, just ugly (to me). I understand wanting it to look cartoonish, but it could have been better executed. I almost stopped reading it because of the artwork. The dialogue is also trying too hard to be hipster teen-speak. I dare say that's suppose to make her more endearing, but she's a girl with squirrel capabilities and several actual squirrels (one of which can actually speak). How much more endearing does she need to be?

Overall it was cute. I might read the second volume at some point, and hopefully I'll like it better and there will be more character development and plot. It is possible to have those even with lighter stories. I imagine younger girls would love it. I'd definitely give it to my younger cousins and some kids I know.

This comic was so cute. I loved how witty, smart, and lighthearted Squirrel Girl is, and I'm definitely looking forward to reading more of this series.

I was recommended to read this as I wanted something superhero-ish to read that wasn't dark and miserable. And boy, was this the perfect choice.

The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, Vol. 1 is an utter joy. The character is fabulous fun. Her adventures are a joy. The way she gets caught up in a fight and then talks to the villains. It manages to be both more fun than most comics I've read and smarter.

Eric Henderson's drawing compliment Ryan North's writing. Plus this collection features a fantastic retro strip illustrated in the style of Steve Ditko. It's both a fun adventure in itself and a great tribute to an older era of comics.

I'll be buying more of these when I have a little cash, because they're so much fun.

I think it was cute and harmless. I love the roommate dynamic and the positive depictions of female characters.
