The bookshop mentioned in the title of this book doesn't actually feature as heavily as I had assumed it would. Instead the story we get is one which builds up slowly towards said bookshop.

I loved the fact that Della was such a determined character from the very start. She knew she wanted to do something major with her late mothers cookbooks, and she stuck by that from the word go. Even when she finds herself badly let down by members of her own family, she plows on faithfully towards her end goal.

The story held my attention throughout and the characters were all written very well. I thoroughly enjoyed the read and am interested to see where the author takes the series next, this being the first in a trilogy apparently.

Many thanks to the publishers and Netgalley for providing a copy in exchange for an honest review.

This book was touted as the feel good book of the summer and since I need to feel good right now and it was only $1.99 I went for it. I would say it kind of made me feel good - I guess it didn't say feel great book of the summer so I shouldn't have had such high expectations plus it was only $1.99 so how good did I think it would make me feel? Anyway - it was everything you would expect and I'm giving it 3 stars because it was fine but really shouldn't 3 stars be for better than fine books? It was all so obvious what was going to happen and really just not that great. why can't I find a feel great read of the summer?

I think this is going to be a lovely book about a middle aged woman re-creating herself, but it's just not what I'm in the mood to read right now.

I received an ARC from NetGalley.

The perfect lighthearted pick me up to listen to on audio. Kitty’s courage inspires me. Thrilled to go on to the next book of the Rosemary Lane series. No swearing or sexual content. Loved the narrator.

Being a huge book lover, this book instantly appealed with it having bookshop in the title. What turned out to be quite different is that the books in question are cookbooks.

The death of Della's mum brings a lot of change for Della. Cooking and recipes was a big part of Kitty's life so Della can't bare to get rid of all the wonderful cook books, which there is an awful lot more than any average person would have. All her family think she is mad when she decides to open a book shop solely selling cook books.

I really liked the idea of a shop solely selling cook books. We all have them but I loved that these had sentimental value to them also. I was hoping to be drooling at the mouth at the succulent thought of meals and food that would be mentioned through out but sadly there wasn't really any. Probably my fault for assuming there would be with the mention of cookbooks.

This is very much a story about moving on and taking chances. All that happens in Della's life in the aftermath of her mum's death enforces for me that she is doing the right thing. Too many of us settle for things and it was nice to see someone go out and grab life and take risks.

Overall The Bookshop on Rosemary Lane is a light hearted and enjoyable read. Set in an idyllic location, it certainly had a certain amount of appeal.

I've enjoyed reading Fiona Gibson (Ellen Berry is a pen name) since her days on More magazine - this is a fairly light, fluffy read - the characters go through hard times, but you know she'll be fine in the end, and it is. A pleasant read
