i picked up this book because savannah and grayson were referenced in other books by this author and i thought they were cute. boy was i wrong.
when writing enemies/vendetta/bullying whatever tropes it’s better when both sides have spunk. here, savannah is just a doormat, trying to survive her abusive father and hiding her secrets while she starts being bullied by her former best friend... and she does nothing. she doesn’t even refuse to blow him when he’s mentioning hooking up with her ‘friend’ before and after.
she’s also disappointed he didn’t take advantage of her when she was drunk when she wakes up not even remembering the night before (wtf)

no woman deserves to be with an abusive man, but here, she already has an abusive father... and you’re telling me her soulmate is a guy who choked her at school, treated her like shit, called her his propriety, punches walls when she refuses to sleep with him and jumps guys in the street because he thinks savannah is dating them? that’s a guy i’m supposed to be rooting for ???

i hope people realize that violent men who think about hurting people all day long, and even act on it. men who bully, manipulate and want to control their partner, are not people you should stay with. they’re the real villains.

and once again with this author, the girl is a virgin, waiting to “give herself” to the guy... while he’s a manwhore and you even get scenes of him hooking up with chicks within the book. it’s time to let go of this fantasy or whatever it is because it’s harmful.

there’s so much more wrong with this book and i’m so disappointed because i genuinely didn’t expect savannah to be such a doormat and gray to be such an asshole.

and the biggest problem is that his behavior isn’t called out, it’s even PRAISED. this author likes her toxicity and obviously doesn’t believe women deserve much. a woman’s worth is her virginity, guys can have sexual partners but girls should wait, girls have to be doormat for terrible guys who treat them like shit but “love them” and it’s okay to be violent constantly. awesome

Great story!

A slow burn bully romance with passion and excitement. Savi and Grey are definitely one of my favourite couples! 5 big fat stars!!

A bully romance with a bully that you will hate to love, but also love to hate. Oh boy, will you go back and forth with this twisty emotional ride. Kelsey Clayton sets up the story perfectly to when you think you cannot like Grayson for the things he's done, she sucks you back in and tugs those emotional heartstrings so hard that you find yourself right back to where you doubted what could ever be wrong in the first place. Savannah seems a glutton for punishment, but her story will knock you to your knees and then you know no gluttony was involved.
The Sinner is like falling down a rabbit hole of twisted emotions and you do wonder if you won't come out the otherside just a little bit bruised, but you also don't care because you have to know what is going to happen to these two people.
This friends to enemies to lovers story is high chemistry where you watch them pour the gasoline on the fire and you just can't take your eyes off the flames as it ignites both of them in the inferno.

This book sort of gave me Punk 57 vibes. Loved it! The misunderstanding, the childhood best friends’ second chance, revenge. Too good. And I cannot wait to read the next!

Angsty and angry and steamy all the other bully romance-y type things. But, as I often feel when I read mature novels set in high school, I just want it to be true NA and take place in college so everything seems a little more plausible.

I was feeling a bully romance when I started this but it wasn’t. However I was still enjoying it up until past the 50% mark where things got sloppy. Clayton relied too heavily on their childhood being their connection instead of showing us their development in the present with them changed. Some details didn’t make sense (like Gray’s mom moving them back to their big house that is somehow still vacant; her going to a job interview, like that’s a risky move; Sav not remember the lie she told even though in the memory says she knew it was a lie; how Gray found out what really happened; etc). The big reveal of her secret home life to her friends was so childish and weird. And then Gray just having a revelation about her was too quick and I don’t think he groveled enough. Also there needs to be another run of editing. Also the title is over the top, it’s hilarious.

“we’re two broken souls just trying to make it through, but together, we’re flawlessly whole.”

yes this is pretty much a typical bully romance.

boy and girl met super young, become inseparable as kids
something happens they disappear from each others lives.
years later their all grown up and one of them moves back to town, boy hates girl for some “ unknown reason “ that has something to do with what happens when they were kids.
lots of sexual tension then feelings then truth of what happened come out and BOOM turns out it was a huge misunderstanding..

But just so happens i happen to love these typical bully romance books they’ve always been a guilty pleasure of mine.
this book definitely took me by surprise and the “unknown reason “ was actually completely understandable 😅 it made me super emotional and so much happened at the end ughhhhh 😭😭 i didn’t expect this book to hit me like it did. AND THE VERY END?? jaw on the floor.   4 ⭐️ ‘s

Great read

Savi and Gray were a breeze to read. Despite the animosity between them, the sexual tension radiated from the pages.

Angst, lies, betrayal, steam, and a whole lot of feels await you in this story.

I loved all the side characters - well, not Kinsley - and can't wait to read more from this series
