A fun and engrossing novel that introduces and plays with the story of Hamlet in an accessible way. I would have liked a bit more development of the main characters, and a little bit more of Hamlet (I only vaguely knew the plot to begin with) but nonetheless this was very entertaining, and I enjoyed the connection with the other classic ref renced. Like other reviewers I'd love to see this expanded to a series exploring more Shakespeare plays and their characters!

I think this book was intended for a YA audience, covering topics such as suicide, murder, mental health and briefly touching on racism, however, it was written like a primary school novel. I also felt that some parts of it were a bit contradictory, such as Selby being described as “polite” but being everything apart from polite throughout the book. I did enjoy the Shakespeare elements and lore/history integrated.
Moderate: Suicide and Murder
Minor: Racism and Mental illness

I wanted more! I could totally see the being a series of books following Selby and Dan as they study and travel into different worlds from various works of fiction throughout the years.
