When I started this book I was so angry, not at the author but the characters who have their heads so far where the sun doesn't shine that they rather make the victim the villain of their story rather than take notice of what she is saying.Their level of the god entitlement complex, gah!I wanna slap each an every one of them silly and seven ways to next Sunday.Like they were to hurt Ava and she was supposed to take it laying down and not make a comment?
Ava was dealt a bad hand and everything wasn't supposed to work out but she is a kick-ass heroine and she fights tooth and nail for her future. In the end she gets all she deserves,a cool career,a family,a home ,friends and a good man .Yey her

I think I'll be in minority here when I say that this story wasn't well wrapped up, in my opinion and even though I liked it, I still think some major issues weren't dealt with properly and accordingly.

dealing with heavy subject of physical violation of a woman is not smth I would put lightly in any book, and here it's masked in a "enemies-to-lovers" high school romance...

so not the appropriate platform for that kind of theme and furthermore, it wasn't even addressed or resolved in the full manner, meaning - I had a feeling it was only crossed over and left for the reader to make for the right conclusion.

Sure, fine...but still, I felt I needed something more substantial to wrap up this horrible thing that happened to the heroine so she could be healed...but I felt that the author just gave her "romance" as a means to "heal", or well, that's how I felt about it, so i guess it's on me.

Nevertheless, I liked the characters, some more, some less BUT I loved Knox especially.

Okay, this is one of those reviews where actually the first half of the book is a 5 - absolutely solid 5 - but the second half brought it down to a 3 for me. Let’s start with the first half, the plot is great and really gripping. It’s realistic, and not something I’ve ever read before; so that was a huge plus. I loved Ava as a character, she’s strong and determined, a real fighter through and through. I liked Knox, he was interesting and conflicting and his privilege made him quite morally grey - good intentions, no understanding that his actions are creepy as all hell. I had guessed the admirer pretty early on, but I liked the element it brought and I wish it had been used more - maybe before the assault, whilst she was in a relationship. The guilty party I’d had suspicions of, but still really enjoyed the reveal.

The second half however, dragged. Once they’d gotten together very suddenly and then the reveal was done, I was surprised by how much book was left; and I think if the end had been tightened to her graduating with a full scholarship and the epilogue being her graduating med school I’d have liked it a whole lot more than what we had - which I’m not going to say, as I try and keep my reviews as spoiler free as possible
