This is what I would call accessible classic literature and would recommend to young adults or anyone else that wants to read a classic that isn't *too long*, is easy to understand, and has a lot of depth in terms of the themes and philosophy.
Great book--not much more to say. It was easy to read, although there were some parts in the middle that were a bit of a slog and were kind of confusing (mostly because I was listening and zoned out because characters were just rambling). Overall, I like the questions that are ultimately posed: is it OK to do something wrong for a greater good? Is the mental, emotional, and spiritual toll of committing a horrible crime worse than the physical punishment? Does forgiveness exist?
Excellent book.

Alexander raskolnikov is a penniless student living in Moscow forced to drop out of his studies because he didn't have any money. He decides to kill a pawnbroker who he has visited before. He almost gets away with it, but eventually things come out and he must atone for his crimes
A unique book, leaves you uneasy because its hard to fault the protagonist. Have I come out the other end feeling clean and pure? Maybe a little bit.

This book has been on my to-read list for such a long time, so I’m long overdue in reading it! It was a fascinating story. I liked it overall a lot and I thought the ending was surprisingly optimistic given the content of the book. I can see why it’s considered a classic.
