Lovely writing but really a stretch to make it match the topic. I am much more interested to read her Lost in Translation as it seems more fitted to her "musings". Also, I just could not get over how poorly organized the book is. I'm pretty sure that was intentional, but for a short introduction book, it's more for sparking interest that learning anything new, really. There were a small handful of facts I didn't know, but no references whatsoever, and usually they were one-liners with no elaboration. The pictures are simple, quiet, and cute. Like I said, doesn't really match the topic of the universe - but maybe it would for someone else, just not for me.

A wonderful collection of short scientific but philosophical essays on life ranging from astronomy to biology to chemistry and how it all creates what we currently know as life and the universe.

This lovely collection of meditations on science and nature is delicately and whimsically illustrated throughout and is perfectly suited for toting along with you as you meet the world with new knowledge, bright eyes, and spades of wonder. Thank you to Penguin Books for the advance copy!

Can I give 15 stars? This book is the art of science, it’s complicated facts written in poetry. This is one of those rare finds that you do not want to finish. So I read less than 150 pages in more than 12 months, because I did not want to miss reading it. I found this book in a cute bookstore and I’ve been in love with Ella’s work ever since.
