I literally read this one week ago and I've already forgotten most of the storyline, because this book is that forgettable. I seriously question the legitimacy of some of these 5 star reviews, because this book was not good by any stretch of the imagination.

It's just as oddly written as the first one, like it's an outline of a novel with none of the detail and dialogue of an actual novel. The chapters are too short, it's full of instalove with zero chemistry, the world is generic and yet super confusing, and there's just no compelling narrative to The Death Code.

The only blessing is that it barely took me 2 hours to read.

Oh stars!
A beautiful ending to a dark story. This book exceeded my expectations, honestly.
Thank you Lindsay Cummings for this brilliant series.

This is the best dystopian series I have read in a long time. Everything about it is completely original. The writing is exceptional and the characters are very well developed.

This book is twisted beyond imagine but I loved every second of it! All I want to do is re read The Murder Complex now.

A good end to an intriguing duology and I like that we were left with some hope.

WOW. A great Final! At first I feared that it would end like Veronica Roth Divergent, but I got surprised and it was worth waiting and fearing till the end.

I LOVE THIS BOOK.

There were a lot of times when I simply wanted to punch Meadow! And a lot of times when my heart bleeded for Zephyr :(. I can't express how happy I am with this ending. Simply read it and I think you will enjoy it.

A great romance book in my bookcase :3! I am very excitet about the next books from her Xp.

Overall a satisfying conclusion to a series far from perfect...

Please bear with me, as I'm writing this review first rather than the review for the first book.

I'm giving this 3.5 stars out of 5.

I really liked the first one and I absolutely had to read this right after. I'm not disappointed that I did. It was a good book, but whether it was a great one? That's the question.

This book left me feeling torn. Because it was everything that I loved about the first. It was fast paced, the chapters were short, and I got through them pretty quickly while staying engaged. There was a lot of action and I loved it. It delved more into this very screwed up world and I devoured it. It was different, it was interesting and yet...

I kept feeling like it was missing something, anything, but I don't know what that is. It's bugging me because it doesn't seem like a real explanation but the simplest way to put it would be that it is missing the spark. If anything, it seemed that the more I read this book, the dimmer the spark became. Maybe that was what was supposed to happen, in context with plot line. Or maybe it was the book just wanting to be end.

There were lots of things that seemed to try to overcompensate for the flaws in the first books (which were few I assure you). I feel like the "insta-love" between Zephyr and Meadow was "taken back" so to speak in this one. And while their "love" confused me at times in the first, it was even more confusing when Zephyr or Meadow would doubt each other. I honestly, sometimes, questioned whether they actually did love each other.

But even then, I knew that that was not the objective of this book. We know who Meadow is and Meadow is a survivor. Surviving, her family surviving, will always come first for her. And yes, I loved that about Meadow, even if it seemed that she was using Zephyr.

The Murder Complex was such a creepy, scary, and interesting concept. What do we do when no one dies? And I'll go more into that in the review for the first book but this book seemed to lack its purpose. It is called The Death Code and yet I know nothing about its significance, or what it is even, until about 60% of the book. So it really confuses me to say that this book was fast paced, and slow, all at the same time.

But I still read on, because how could I not? These were the characters that were supposed to elicit a change, show me something, and this journey they were on. How could I quit when they kept on marching?

For me, my biggest issue was how rushed the ending seemed. And while I did not love this book, I do hope that Lindsay Cummings changes her mind and writes another one. The ending of the book cries for something to resolve it. And maybe it doesn't need it. Maybe I'm looking for hope for this broken world that seems so very possible...

It could be that the choice to end this book the way it did was literary genius, but to me the story of Meadow and Zephyr and Sketch feels unfinished.
