This was a good story. I felt like Grayson and Sidney spent too much time fighting their feelings and I was not a big fan of either during the first part of the book. Grayson was so angry and not a very nice guy until the second half, then the story was better for me.

I didn’t like either of the main characters the girl is super spoiled and stuck up and I don’t get what I want and the guy is so bent out of shape because she has money. It’s just frustrating I couldn’t do it and I was dreading having it read it.

This is probably my first book I've read on a single dad.
I was hoping for more content... For the dad's side of life atleast. Also, I did not like the hero that much. How he compared her to his ex-wife all the time...I mean I get it, he's been burned before and she reminds him of her. But even though she proves him wrong every single time ...even until the end I don't see him getting over his past or finding a closure.
I really hoped there was a meet with Claire sometime in the book to show the closure and him finally moving past that.
I loved the heroine a lot! She was strong, up-front and sweet. I didn't however see any of her side of difficulties. She mentions in the start of the book that she's scared of the kids and husband lifestyle but there hasn't been a single page to acknowledge her fear or uncertainty with kids.

The writing was good. Just the guy and the few plot holes could be better.

First Impressions
Cockpit is the finale in the "Everyday Heroes" series and I was really looking forward to this book the most because this is the brother that is the sweet one, the tame one, the one that resolves the fights between the other brothers, the peacemaker but is also the single dad and you just know he has some demons that you want to see worked through. I will admit in that Cockpit was a book that shocked me the most because its the most angsty of the three books. It definitely has a format of enemies to lovers with a mix of pining. I really wasn't expecting it to be honest, so it thew me off in the beginning, I did go into this book blind, but in typical K. Bromberg fashion, she had me falling in love with this book despite throwing my vibe off on what I was expecting. Lesson to read blurbs if you don't like surprises in the beginning. haha

First Line
"It isn't what you think. I promise."

The Main Protagonists
The Hero: Grayson
Rescue Helicopter Pilot, Baby of the family, peacemaker, Single Father

The Heroine: Sydney
Daddy's girl, works in marketing, dreams of owning her own fashion magazine. Bubbly and independent.

Summary
Sydney, has dreamed of owning her own publication and she loves fashion. She left the small town that she grew up in, but when she makes a mistake with her father's company to protect a friend, her father sends her as punishment to the small town she grew up in to repair a magazine and run a daddy beefcake contest and the man that she has to convince to work with the contest, is one stubborn man. Grayson Malone, is one sexy dad and helicopter pilot. But he is also as prickly as a porcupine when it comes to her. She rubbed him the wrong way and is determined to repair those bridges so that she can get him on board with this plan but as tensions rise between them so does their sexual chemistry. They both know that what they have is temporary, but as they learn each other, a sweet endearing love builds....but can their love last when its just temporary or will they learn to fight for what they have?

What I Loved
Cockpit shocked me in so much in how much I LOVED this one and I do think that this one ended up being my favorite of the trilogy. I wasn't sure how Cockpit could beat the previous two books, but somehow it did because all the feels was so intense and put me in a twirl of adventure and sexy vibes. There is so much tension between these two especially in the beginning. The hero is such a tortured soul. He has been betrayed in one of the worst ways, but he is completely devoted to his son and I loved seeing what a great dad he turned out to be. He is one of my favorites that I have ever read. I loved his heart and his tender personality at times. He has such a trusting heart once he lets you in. He is also so protective of his son. And this little boy totally stole my heart and has throughout the series. But seeing this little boy just yearn for a mother just broke my heart.

The way that the romance was developed was so well done. K. Bromberg is queen in getting the reader to be so invested in her couples, and Grayson and Sydney being together, well I became invested very very quickly and I am not complaining haha There is such delicious sexual tension in the first half. But when they both let go of their own perceptions of each other is where they blossom together. We do have the whole trying to not let themselves get hurt as its a temporary arrangement and also having to keep it a secret. But seeing them learning to love each other delivered in so many precious moment that delivered all the way for me. And the moments in which we see them learn to "fight" for their love. Yeah that takes the cake! I really adored what we see happen in the third act. Sometimes I struggle with the third act breakup, but the author here writes them so so well! And the way that this author was able to have my emotions so involved in this pairing was beyond clever. She definitely is a favorite author for a reason and I am definitely wanting to get back to her stories more.

What I Struggled With
The angst in the beginning, it just threw me off for a loop a bit. The hero is a bit prickly towards the heroine. I felt for Sydney, because she is not the girl she was in High School, and has to work to redeem herself. I just felt the hero was a bit too harsh.

Overall View
I found Cockpit to be a poignant, packed with heart and sexy vibes, while packing quite a humorous punch along the way. A DELIGTHFUL GEM TO SOAR WITH!

Favorite Quote(s)
“Well, you know what they say about heroes. A real hero doesn’t save to get attention; they save because it’s the right thing to do. It seems Grayson makes a habit of taking risks, though.”

never go in search of love, go in search of life, and life will find the love you seek

She tastes like heaven and hell. Like want and need. Like deception and desire.

“I love you, damn it, and I don’t have a fucking clue what to do about it other than to ask you to choose me. To tell me I’m worth the risk."

Steam/Spice Explanations

Simmering cup of tea---soft warm touches and light intimacy
Warmin' by the fire- a medium level of sexual tension, a balance of sexual and emotional intimacy, lighter on the details in the sexual moments.
Steamin' up the room -the sexual content is more explicit in the language and tone, heavier amount of sexual scenes.
Blazing fire to the building-The prime focus is the sex scenes, scorching hot, and could burn one. Less focus on the emotional intimacy to the relationship.

This might be my favourite out of the whole series, but it just annoyed me all the back and forth Grayson had about “She’s like Claire”, like boy pull yourself together. I added a .25 for Sidney and Luke basically lol. I enjoyed this series and I loved seeing the cameos from the other couples, I absolutely flew through this series and had fun with it!! Definitely would recommend it!

SPOILERS AHEAD:

Things I liked:
  • “So, should we ask her out on a date?” “We?” I laugh and turn around, grab him, and flip him upside down.”
  • “My sigh is heavy and is matched by Luke’s laughter outside. I stare at him, at this perfect piece of me”
  • Luke unintentionally gave Grayson the call sign ‘SpiderMan’
  • Luke going to Grayson after he had a nightmare, and unintentionally waking Grayson up from his nightmare
  • “You sure have a lot of wants with a side of a lot of whines.” “I’m starting not to like you right now.”
  • “You haven’t said a word to her all night, but you sure as hell have been staring at her.”
  • Oh shit they just kissed lol
  • SHE KISSED HIM IN FRONT OF EVERYONE
  • LUKE JUST STANDING AT THE END OF HIS BED WAITING FOR HIM TO WAKE UP LMFAO
  • Luke teaching Sidney about Minecraft characters
  • Grayson telling Sidney that he was looking forward to seeing her at the festival
  • “I shouldn’t be nervous about this, but I am. Grayson Malone makes me nervous.”
  • “Luke has a cone of cotton candy from the farmers’ market in one hand while the other is resting on Grayson’s hat. Grayson has a hold of Luke’s feet so that his biceps flex with each step he takes.”
  • LUKE SHOWED UP AT HER WORK ALONE AND GAVE HER HANDPICKED DAISIES IM SCREAMING
  • LUKES ASKING HER TO THE MOM AND SON PICNIC IM CRYING
  • “He shrugs as I take the daisies and bury my nose in them. Other than Luke, I can’t remember the last time a man brought me flowers. It seems as if the Malones are just a bunch of charmers.”
  • HE TOOK HER FLYING AND TO A WINE THINGY AS THEIR ‘FIRST DATE’

  • “It has to be the damn moonlight in her hair. Or the high altitude. But every time I look at her, I think that this is too perfect. That this feels too real.”
  • “He makes you happy. It’s written all over your face.”
  • “Luke says right before his hand finds mine as if it were the most natural thing in the world.”
  • “I’m fighting for you, Grayson.”
  • “How Luke comes and sits on her lap and she wraps her hands around his waist and rests her chin on his shoulder. How, every so often, she’ll say something that makes him giggle.”
  • Sidney staying with Luke after Grayson got called into work. He found them asleep on Luke’s bed together!!
  • “he’s holding her hand, and her chin is resting on top of his head. They look like a mother and son.”
  • SIDNEY JUST TOLD HIM SHE LOVES HIM WHILE ASLEEP
  • “I’ll prove differently, Luke Malone. I promise you if I have to leave, I’ll be coming back to see you.”
  • “I believe you . . . but don’t come back just because of me. Come back because of my dad. I think he really likes you.”
  • “There’s Luke in a vest and slacks with a napkin over his arm and a sheepish smile on his face.”
  • LUKE SET THEM UP ON A ROMANTIC DINNER
  • “He laughs again, and another piece of my heart falls at this little boy’s feet.”
  • “How noble of you, sir.” Grayson plants a big kiss on his cheek and then tickles him some more.”
  • “She had a Minecraft figure made to look just like me. A Steve Block, but I guess it’s a Luke Block.”
  • “If Rissa wants the position at Haute—only if she wants it—then I would love a shot at her job at the magazine.”
  • “Because your daughter is more important to me than any prize I ever could win. That’s why.” (HE DROPPED OUT OF THE CONTEST)
  • “He meets my eyes again. “I love her.”
  • “The screen. The messed-up pages. When they’re all together, I see what they say, but my eyes don’t want to believe it to be true. Will. You. Marry. Me?”
  • “Another press of a kiss. “I want to adopt Luke. I want him to be mine, too.”

disappointing end to such a good series. Didn't care for any of the characters - the first half was good, then went downhill.

Worth the Risk is a sweet, sexy, heartwarming enemies to lovers romance with all the feels. I've wanted this book from the very beginning of this series. I mean c'mon. A swoony single dad who is hot enough to be included in a Hot Dad competition and he also happens to be a rescue pilot...yes, please!! I was not disappointed. Worth the Risk is a good example of why K. Bromberg is one of go to authors. I absolutely LOVED the narration. As always Zachary Webber and Grace Grant are magnificent at bringing the characters to life. It's definitely worth a listen.

The characters in Worth the Risk were great (especially sweet little Luke). The connection between Sidney and Grayson was electric. Even when they fought you could tell that there was a spark. The back and forth push and pull between them was just so good. K. Bromberg did a great job of building the tension.

One negative for me however was regarding Grayson. I loved him, loved how much he care for his little boy. But...there were times that he frustrated me. I understand that he was hurt by a heartless person but some of the ways he dealt with his feelings annoyed the heck out of me. I could have done with a little less of his indecisiveness. That being said, none of this kept me from wanting more of the story.

I highly recommend this book - this series. I can't get enough of those Malone men!!
