Another interesting story. I am actually enjoying the characters growing. I do have to say it is a bit hard to see where Davenport's grasp of game theory really comes into play. Then again, it was never stated he had a grasp of it, but as a game designer I thought it was something understood.

Meagan! Her ending was certainly an authorian choice.
A predatory stalker, Lucas in love, and a terminally ill partner from the BCA (which Lucas eventually joins).
We have Lucas choosing Weather, so some growth there. And although we want Meagan to have made a choice, I like that Sandford--and Lucas--cast doubt. It's comforting to think she had a noble ending, but life isn't always like that.
The firefight and chase scenes seemed drawn out this time.

This is on fast-paced book, starting with a cat burglar, Koop, falling in love with the victim who was sleeping while he is robbing her apartment and continuing with the obsession that envelops him and leads him to kill other women. Add to that a cop that is about to die from cancer and has a visceral need to find the killer and leads her to work with Lucas Davenport in the case, and you have a recipe for high entertainment.
Of course, once Sandford has you in his grip he does not let go. He adds enough gruesome details, the interesting look at the killers psyche, the developments in Davenport's personal life, and a puzzling side case, to bring this very nice job to fruition.
Fans of the series have a good idea about what these books are about. This one is among the good ones and will leave you satisfied. Since the personal story of the main character adds an extra layer of depth to the series I recommend newcomers to go back to the beginning and read the books in order. The series is so good that you will find yourself here in no time.

excellent story as always John Sanford never disappoints! He is very clever and so isn't the criminals that he is chasing after! I would advise anyone who has not read any of John Sandfords Prey series that you really should, they will keep you on your toes.

Like the previous books in the series I was completely engrossed, and that ending... wow... that really got me. Well done Mr. Sandford.
