This was so dumb. It got cute at the end but lost me again when the MC said the name of the title of the book on the very last page.

This book was SO christmasy and I love Christmas so this was fun. It's basically like a Christmas book for people who like Christmas books. Like every other sentence has a Christmas reference.
Anyways, heres a list of quotes that amused me that I think sum up the vibe of this book (also I think these quotes are all from pages 50-100):
"What the H.E. double candy canes is going on"
"Son of a snowman"
"Jumping Jack Frost!"
"Teddy all but started to melt into a whimpering puddle like frosty on a warm sunny day"
"I feel lighter than marshmallows in hot chocolate"
"I can see Carms next comment coming like December 25 on the calendar"
"My insides spark like too many lights plugged into a socket"
"This conversation is like being on a sled on a bumpy hill on an icy, slick day"
"Me and bacon are like icing to sugar cookies: theres no such thing as too much"
"The shop will be packed like wet snow"

I STRUGGLED THROUGH
THIS ONE. AT TIMES I
FELT LIKE THERE WAS
TOO MUCH GOING AND
AND AT THE SAME TIME
NOT ENOUGH... I DON'T
KNOW IF I'M MAKING
SENSE SO I'M LEAVING
THE REVIEW AT THAT. IT
JUST WASN'T FOR ME. I
LIKED IT.

This was a little slow on the start. The first fifty pages were okay, but the rest of the book felt like a breeze to read. It is not so packed full with christmas spirit, that you lose it all, but just enough to make the book cozy. Read it with a cup of hot coco beside you, I swear the hot coco taste a little better, and it feels like you have only been reading for 5 minutes. When in actualty you have been reading for an hour.

I am the type of reader who can pick up a Holiday book any day of the year. There’s something about the festivity of celebration combined with the romance of winter that just brings me so much joy. So I immediately bonded with our protagonist, Lila, who totally matches my holiday plot vibe.
That connection on top of a surprise teen heartthrob with a secret, a ticking clock to-do list, and a book blog that perfectly cut up the chapters to provide poignant questions that guided the story forward...this was absolutely a favorite for me! Once I picked it up, I couldn’t put it down—literally, I started it Friday night and finished it Saturday morning 🫣
In the spirit of Tinsel and Tropes...
🎄 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘴: Quick read, cute plot, and well-written, diverse characters
🎄 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘴: It’s a standalone novel and I really want to know what happens to our characters as they journey to college!
🎄 𝘙𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨: 5 stars!

Maybe 3.5 stars. Cute, fun holiday read, but it didn’t keep me on the edge of my seat and took a few weeks to finish.
